Join us for a fun volunteer day at Lokelani Intermediate School. Industrious seniors from Kaunoa Senior Services Civic Adventure program will partner with Grow Some Good students to spruce up the gardens and prepare for the start of the school garden program.
A variety of projects will be offered, including building, sanding, and painting benches to be used for outdoor classrooms; planting native plants and fruit trees to fill in the terrace area; and planting seeds in pots for plant starts to be used at additional schools with Grow Some Good school gardens.
By coming together, the two organizations hope to create a meaningful, interactive experience between generations. Students will benefit from the knowledge, experience and examples of their elders, while the senior volunteers benefit from the physical activity, social interaction, and spending time outdoors. Additional volunteers are needed to ensure all of the projects are completed in time. Grow Some Good’s newest Garden Coordinators will also be participating in the event – stop by and say hello!
When working in the garden it is always a good idea to wear sturdy shoes and to bring sun protection. Gloves, tools, and refreshments will be provided.
