An Afternoon of Christmas Music with Mikala & Friends

Come join Mikala & Friends for an afternoon of Christmas Music at the Historic Palace Theater in
Downtown Hilo. A benefit for air-conditioned Comfort and Joy supporting the theater’s soon to be Air-Conditioning
System. Sunday December 17th, 2017 at 2:00pm. Tickets can be purchased at the Palace Theater box office or
over the phone with a credit card at 935-7010, M-F, 10am-3pm. Each ticket purchased will help bring a cooler
space to the Palace Theater when Air Conditioning is installed in the future. Tickets are only $15.00 for general
seating and $20.00 for center reserved.
Denyse Woo from KBIG introduces : Mikala Thomas, Justine Thompson, Jackie Pualani Johnson,
Rachel Edwards, Norman Arancon, Reina Dawn, Christopher Tomich, Rick Jitchaku, Bernard-Benjamin Villa,
Mimi Tincher and SURPRISE GUESTS! Including piano, voice, ukulele, bass, drums, dance and more.
Mikala is excited to share his musical talents along with his friends. Some of the songs to be shared
include “I Bought You a Plastic Star for Your Aluminum Tree,” “A Five Pound Box of Money,” “Everybody’s Waiting’
for the Man with the Bag,” “Christmas Time is Here,” “The Christmas Song,” “I Pray on Christmas,” and
many MORE!
Mikala has performed with many partners around the Big Island including the University of Hawaii-Hilo’s
Theatre Department, Kilauea Drama and Entertainment Network (KDEN), Performance Art Learning Center (PALC)
at Hilo High School, accompanist for Pedro Kaawaloa’s shows, pianist for the East Hawaii All Star Jazz Orchestra
and many other concerts, shows and benefit events. He has also been a piano accompanist for shows at Hawaii
Museum of Contemporary Art (East Hawaii Cultural Center). This is his first Christmas Show in Hilo.
The Palace is honored to have this lineup of incredible talent donating their time and talents to help raise
money for our Air Conditioning. With the loss of our donation box in October, we are thrilled to have these
wonderful stars of our Hilo Community create a beautiful program for our patrons to enjoy and offer the proceeds
to our fund.
