Storyteller Nyla Fujii-Babb will share stories of Hawaiian heroes including Maui, Punia, Laka, Ikua Purdy, and Duke Kahanamoku. Born and raised in Honolulu, “Aunty Nyla” traces her roots back to the town of Kahakuloa on Maui where she learned stories from her grandparents & great-grandparents. Nyla has been a professional storyteller, artistic director, puppeteer and actress for over 20 years in Hawaii. She has produced shows, performed in, and directed concerts for numerous organizations. She is also a retired librarian with the Hawaii State Public Library System. She is known as a strong advocate of storytelling, local literature and the arts! This 45-minute program is suitable for all ages. Young children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
