Hula Ku’i by Muolaulani

November 25, 2017 @ 10:30 am - 11:15 am

Artistic Director and Kumu Hula Michael Pili Pang shares Hawaiian rituals, myths, and legends with a contemporary flair to tell the stories of Hawai’i and its rich culture. Muolaulani is a contemporary Hawaiian dance company showcasing hula at its highest art form. Noted for their innovative presentations, Muolaulani performers have been trained through the dance school Halau Hula No’eau in the style called hula ku’i – a descriptive dance style which blends traditional hula with western idioms.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Library of Hawai‘i, Hawaii State Federal Credit Union, Meadow Gold Dairies, Hawaiian Electric Companies, HMS Host, Hansen Distribution Group, Roberts Hawaii, Mitsunaga & Associates, Aloha United Way, and the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation. This is a production of the University of Hawai'i at Manoa Outreach College’s Statewide Cultural Extension Program with additional funding and support provided by the National Endowment for the Arts, Hawai'i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, and the University of Hawai'i.

Program schedule is subject to change. Contact the library 10 days in advance to request a sign language interpreter or if special accommodations are needed.
