Hawaii Center for Food Safety invites you to a free webinar! Dr. Albie Miles, Assistant Professor of Sustainable Community Food Systems at the University of Hawai‘i – West Oahu will be leading a discussion on the role of agroecology and ecologically based agriculture in climate change mitigation and adaptation.
Presentation description: Agriculture is the key driver of global environmental change, producing over 25% of global greenhouse gas emissions while negatively impacting biodiversity, pollinator viability and soil and water quality. The large-scale transition to more ecologically sustainable and “climate smart” agriculture will prove essential in meeting conservation goals and enhancing food security in the context of accelerating climate change. Dr. Miles will discuss recent international research findings that point to a clear pathways for the future of food and agriculture in Hawai‘i and beyond.
