In their eight years together\, The Maine has released four full length albums\, including their major label debut “Black and White” in 2010. The band expanded their musical realm into production which resulted din their fourth EP\, the self-recorded and produced “Imaginary Numbers” (2013). Over the years\, they have toured across the globe as well as extensively on home soil in the U.S; both as headliners and in support roles. The Maine has shared the stage with the likes of Taking Back Sunday\, Anberlin\, A Rocket To The Moon\, Augustana\, and many more. The band has made numerous festival appearances including the Vans Warped Tour\, Bamboozle\, and South by Southwest. The Maine is recognized within the industry for the close relationships they build and maintain with their fans — many of whom are now college age and have grown up alongside the band. For instance\, in the winter skies in Hawai'i we will look at the Orion Nebula\, Pleiades\, and put them in contexts with Hawaiian traditions. \nA VIS staff member will orient the program’s participants to the night’s sky via a live feed\, as well as introduce the instruments and techniques used to view a deep space object. DESCRIPTION:Formed by Alexakis in 1991 in Portland\, Oregon\, Everclear has enjoyed a lengthy career spanning 10 studio releases\, numerous videos\, thousands of shows and accolades that include a 1998 Grammy nomination for Best Rock Instrumental\, for the Afterglow track “El Distorto de Melodica.” Like a true survivor\, Alexakis has soldiered on through multiple lineup changes over the years: During the Afterglow era\, the band also included Craig Montoya on bass and Greg Eklund on drums; the forthcoming anniversary tour features current Everclear members Davey French (guitar)\, Freddy Herrera (bass) and drummer Jake Margolis.
