SUMMARY:Alaska's Blackwater Railroad
DESCRIPTION:Blackwater Railroad Company is a folk-rock group built from diametrically opposed backgrounds\, coincidentally brought together by love of music and Alaska. \nThe group is adding new original music with every passing show\, mainly culled from the prolific songwriting capacities of its frontman\, Tyson Davis. His flat-picking style\, performed on a steel resonator guitar lovingly named Loretta\, lends the sorrowful tone of a banjo to contrast his upbeat\, catchy lyrical songwriting and melodies. \nAlongside their original music\, BWRR strives to introduce audiences to the music that inspires them\, much of which is from more obscure sources from past musical eras as well as more recent music\, re-imagined and performed with a new angle. In one evening\, audiences will hear a wide range of the band's muses\, such as Devil Makes Three\, The Felice Brothers\, MGMT\, John Prine\, Townes Van Zandt\, old blues standards made famous by The Band\, and even the likes of Madonna and They Might Be Giants. \nWhatever they bring to the table\, an evening with BWRR promises lots of dancing\, the love of whiskey and laughter with friends. \n6-9pm\, all ages\, $10 don.
