The two performances will be much like his shows at Wynn in Las Vegas\, just him and his acoustic guitar. The two performances will be December 10th at the Neal S. Blaisdell Arena. The first show is at 6:30 PM and the second show is at 10:00 PM. Ticket sale details are below. \nBrooks will be performing for Pacific Historic Parks which will be dispersing 100 percent of the net proceeds from the performances to four historic organizations with the mission of preserving the legacy of Pearl Harbor: WWII Valor in the Pacific National Monument (USS Arizona Memorial)\, Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor\, USS Bowfin Submarine Museum & Park\, and Battleship Missouri Memorial. \nThe back-to-back concerts are the culmination of a week-long schedule of events commemorating the December 7\, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor\, other military bases\, and civilian areas on the Island of O’ahu\, which led directly to our country’s entry into WWII. \nAdmiral Thomas Fargo\, Chair of the 75th Commemoration Committee said\, “The 75′ Commemoration embraces our respect for all men and women who have answered the call of duty for the last seven decades and especially honors those whose sacrifice protected our nation and secured victory during WWII. Slack key virtuoso Danny Carvalho has studied with Ozzie Kotani\, been featured on National Public Radio’s “From The Top”\, highlighting Garrison Keillor’s “A Prairie Home Companion” in 2006 and 2011\, and was featured in Alexander Payne’s 2011 movie\, “The Descendants.” \nJeff Peterson is one of Hawaii’s most versatile and respected musicians\, providing him with opportunities to collaborate with a wide variety of artists from Hawaii\, the mainland and abroad. His focus on Slack Key guitar\, classical\, & jazz music has allowed him to develop a unique and transcendent voice on the guitar while being deeply rooted in the traditions of his Hawaiian heritage. Peterson has also contributed to two Grammy Award-winning recordings and has been honored with five Na Hoku Hanohano Awards. \nSponsored by the Friends of the Kaneohe Library. DESCRIPTION:The Charleston is a dance named for the harbor city of Charleston\, South Carolina. The rhythm was popularized in mainstream dance music in the United States by a 1923 tune called “The Charleston” by composer/pianist James P. Johnson which originated in the Broadway show Runnin' Wild and became one of the most popular hits of the decade. Runnin' Wild ran from 29 October 1923 through 28 June 1924. The peak year for the Charleston as a dance by the public was mid-1926 to 1927.
