SUMMARY:Thursday MicroOrganism Class w/ Drake
DESCRIPTION:February 4th 8am – 11am \nMicroOrganism Class w/ Eric Weinert & Dana Keawe \nCome and learn Natural Farming at our Hawaiian Sanctuary Educational Facility in Puna\, Hawaii. Natural Farming incorporates the Lowest Cost Farming Method so that all supplies are sourced and/or grown here on the island. This complete system of farming saves so much money from buying implements that you can pay yourself more to farm. Natural Farming is about harnessing the power of beneficial microorganisms to provide all the nutrients for a healthy thriving plant or garden. \nWhat to expect: Each class is built upon the next class and are somewhat spontaneous due to the nature of the unpredictable nature of breeding microorganisms. Drake takes you on a journey of the the lifecycle of fungus\, bacteria\, protozoa\, nematodes and more and how they thrive. See below class for example of what to expect. Many subjects are reintroduced at each class so a student will be just as interested if they missed any previous classes. \nPrevious classes covered: Primer on Fermented Plant Juice\, Seawater\, Worm Juice = wood juice\, Use of Lactic Acid Bacteria\, brewing fungal dominant compost teas\, short intro. to tree planting the Master Cho way. Class made IMO 3 using hands. Dana Keawe taught fermented plant juice with hands on banana flower fermentation. \nTeacher Bio: Drake is an indigenous macrobe born in Puna\, and has been studying Korean natural farming since 2007 with Master Cho. He has further refined his knowledge of this rejuvenating microscopic science under soil food web expert Elaine Ingham and how to make the solutions affordable and straightforward with Gil Carandang of the Philippines. he is presently the agricultural instructor at Kalaniana'ole middle school in Papaikou and resides on his family farm in Onomea. He is often found beautifying the streets of Hilo and spraying the roadsides with beneficial microbes\, and on youtube and http://www.naturalfarminghawaii.net. \n∞ Cost: $15 \n~ COME DRESSED AND READY WITH SUN HAT\, NOTEBOOK\, WATER BOTTLE & CLOSED TOED SHOES \nRESERVE YOUR SPOT HERE:\nhttp://hawaiiansanctuary.com/event/hawaiian-planting-permaculture/2015-02-04/

SUMMARY:Ashtanga Vinyasa & Yoga Sutra Chanting Workshop with Kiki Flynn 8:00-12:30
DESCRIPTION:The Shala welcomes dear friend and guest teacher Kiki Flynn\,\na Saturday in February…date to be confirmed. \nThe Path to Padmasana\nEntire Workshop $40 \nPart 1: Tristhanam and Vinyasa –\nThe Foundation of Ashtanga Yoga\n8 AM-10 AM $25 \n“Correct asana means correct breathing\,\n there is no Yoga without vinyasa.”\n – Pattabhi Jois \nThe Ashtanga Yoga method is founded on the techniques of vinyasa and tristhanam. Vinyasa is the application of the breathing/movement system. Tristhanam is the three-part technique of breath/bandhas\, gazing\, and asana that is implemented throughout practice and is the ground for transformation. Our workshop begins with an in-depth talk on these integral supports followed by a led primary class emphasizing these techniques.\n2.0 hours \n Bring your breakfast! Let’s share food while we Q and A\n10:00 AM- 11:00 AM\nI travelled to India to study with Sri. K Pattabhi Jois 12 times for 3-6 months at a time. In addition to twice hosting him at my Los Angeles Shala\, I also travelled throughout the US to practice with him. Guruji freely spoke and shared on so many aspects and applications of yoga and India’s wisdom traditions. How blessed we were: any yoga question we had\, we asked him\, and he answered.\n1 hr \nPart 2: Good Vibrations!\nChanting the Yoga Sutra:\nYoga the Path and the Final Attainment\n11:00 AM-12:30 PM $20.00\nFollowing traditional call and response\, we will chant the first 16 sutras of the first chapter of this foundational text on Yoga Practice. In discussion\, we will illuminate the meaning of these sutras and deepen our understanding of Yoga\, mind\, and practice.\nPattabhi Jois chanted and shared from the Sutras so often that I was determined to study it so I could better understand him and as well as share his teachings.\n1.5 hours \nKimberly Flynn (Kiki) \nMy yoga studies started in 1982 and in 1993 I began my studies with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in his groundbreaking classes in New York City. In 1995 I took the first of a dozen trips to study with him at AYRI in Mysore. My first glimpse into the tiny back shala of his Lakshmi Puram home left an indelible impression. Daily I was overwhelmed by the generosity of his teaching in both his early morning classes as well as his daily afternoon conferences. 15 years ago Guruji sent me off to learn Sanskrit chanting and since that time I have also been a student of Dr. M.A. Jayashree. \n1n 1996 I opened Ashtanga Yoga Shala in Los Angeles where I twice hosted Pattabhi Jois. From 2005-2008 I lived and taught in Pahoa at Nicole’s Pahoa Shala as well as in Asia and Europe. In 2008 I returned to New York City where I now teach workshops and teacher trainings locally and globally. In addition to teaching high profile clients like Madonna and Miley Cyrus\, I create yoga programming for Spinal Cord Injury\, MS and other therapeutic applications. I share wellness and yoga as a blogger and on YouTube as Kiki Says. \nhttp://www.KikiFlynn.com\nhttps://www.youtube.com/user/kikiflynn
