SUMMARY:Fascia Reset: A Myofascial Release and Yin yoga Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Fascia is dense\, tough tissue that surrounds muscles and bones. Fascia can be released through 3 main processes: compression\, stretching\, and twisting. Myofascial release utilizes compression while Yin yoga uses supported yoga poses to stretch and twist the fascia. Releasing fascia can improve mobility\, reduce tension and pressure in the musculoskeletal system\, decrease pain\, and improve circulation. Please bring 2 tennis balls. Extra balls will be available for use at the studio. No yoga experience is necessary. This workshop has limited space and will likely reach capacity. \nPlease register early at https://clients.mindbodyonline.com/classic/ws?studioid=163457&stype=-8&sView=week&sLoc=0&date=11/19/17. \nTaught by: Danielle Maka’ike\, 200 E-RYT\nDanielle believes that yoga can be a powerful tool to promote physical and mental well-being. She travels regularly to study with Tiffany Cruikshank and is committed to the Yoga Medicine movement.

This is an all ages accompanied with an adult event. \nSince the release of her 2013 breakout Pushin' Against A Stone\, Valerie June has been patiently at work in the garden of song\, nurturing seedlings with love and care into the lush bloom that is her stunning new album\, The Order Of Time. With Pushin' Against A Stone\, she went from self-releasing her music as Tennessee's best kept secret to being hailed by the New York Times as one of America's “most intriguing\, fully formed new talents.” The New Yorker was captivated by her “unique\, stunning voice\,” while Rolling Stone dubbed her “unstoppable\,” and NPR called her “an elemental talent born with the ability to rearrange the clouds themselves.” \nShe astonished TV audiences from coast-to-coast with spellbinding performances on The Tonight Show\, The Late Show\, Austin City Limits\, Rachael Ray\, and CBS Saturday Morning\, and graced some of the world's most prestigious stages\, from Carnegie Hall to the Kennedy Center. First Lady Michelle Obama invited June to The White House\, and she toured with artists like Sharon Jones &The Dap Kings\, Sturgill Simpson\, Norah Jones\, and Jake Bugg in addition to flooring festival crowds at Bonnaroo\, Outside Lands\, Newport Folk\, Hangout\, ACL\, Pickathon\, Mountain Jam and more. \nIn the UK\, the reaction was similarly ecstatic. June performed on Later…with Jools Holland\, joined a bill with the Rolling Stones in Hyde Park\, and took the press by storm. Uncut praised her “remarkably careworn vocals\,” MOJO swooned for her “glorious sound\,” and The Independent's Andy Gill wrote\, “June has the most strikingly individual delivery I've heard in ages.” \nA local opener will be announced soon. \nDetails on Show:\nWhere: The Republik\, 1349 Kapiolani Blvd 3rd Floor\, Honolulu\, HI 96814\nWhen: Monday\, November 20th\, 2017\nLounge Doors: 6:00pm (21 and up)\nHall Doors: 7:00pm (All ages with an adult)\nShow: 8:00pm (All ages with aan dult) \nTickets available on Friday\, July 14th at 9:00am at:\nBampproject.com / Jointherepublik.com / SeeTickets.us.com / Local Motion Stores / Navy/Hickam ITT Offices / Army LTS Offices / UH Campus Center / The Republik Box Office Tuesday thru Friday 10:00am thru 6:00pm with a $2 service fee per ticket \nIf you are not familiar with this artist please visist http://www.valeriejune.com/ \nMahalo to our sponsors ROCKSTAR Energy Drink\, Bud Light and Wahoo's. \n####

SUMMARY:Battle of the Sexes
DESCRIPTION:RATED PG-13. Starring: Agnes Olech\, Alan Cumming\, Emma Stone\, Elisabeth Shue\, Steve Carell\nDirected by: Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris\n“The electrifying 1973 tennis match between World number one Billie King and ex-champ and serial hustler Bobby Riggs was billed as The Battle of the Sexes and became one of the most watched televised sports events of all time. The match caught the zeitgeist and sparked a global conversation on gender equality\, spurring on the feminist movement. Trapped in the media glare\, King and Riggs were on opposite sides of the binary argument\, but off-court each was fighting more personal and complex battles. Together Billie and Bobby served up a cultural spectacle that resonated far beyond the tennis courts and animated the discussions between men and women in bedrooms and boardrooms around the world.” \nDoors will open 30 minutes prior to each showing. Tickets are $8 General and $7 for Seniors & Students.
