This rare traditional art form is an ancient call-and-response mantra chanting practice\, that originated in the Indian subcontinent over 5000 years ago. Vijay formed the band Kirtaniyas in 2009. They are home to ‘opae ‘ula (red shrimp)\, a tiny species of shrimp that are found only in the Hawaiian Islands. \nProgram participants will have the opportunity to see live ‘opae ‘ula up close\, and will create a paper puppet replica to take home. Program is suitable for children in grades K-5\, and is limited to the first 20 patrons.
