SUMMARY:Kamaka Fernandez Live at Hula Grill
DESCRIPTION:Kamaka Fernandez (Oahu) will be performing in the Barefoot Bar from 3:30-5:30. The show is free\, but seating is first come\, first served. \nIf anyone could be described as having “Hawaiian heart and soul\,” it is indeed Ryan Kamakakehau Fernandez. Born in Little Rock\, Arkansas\, this 6 week old African American infant was adopted by Robyn Naeʻole and brought to the shores of Maui\, Hawaiʻi. It is here that his new family and home shaped “Kamaka” into one of Hawaiʻi’s newest and most refreshing talents. \nKamaka’s education played a huge part in his love and appreciation for the Hawaiian culture and music. He is a graduate of the Hawaiian Language Immersion Program (Kula Kaiapuni\, King Kekaulike High School) and is proud to be a fluent speaker of the Hawaiian language. \nAs he studied – and lived – Hawaiian culture and language\, a new-found love emerged from within as he became enamored with the ʻukulele and the art of leo kiʻekiʻe (falsetto) singing. He was the 2003 winner of falsetto legend Richard Hoʻopiʻiʻs Falsetto contest\, (part of the annual Aloha Festivals celebrations) and from that point on\, Kamaka continued to astonish audiences with the range of his voice\, the strum of his ʻukulele\, and his heart…which is truly Hawaiian. As Kamaka states… “I love my mom\, my ‘ohana\, my friends and this wonderful culture that I was lucky enough to be immersed in. Hawaiʻi is my heart and soul.” \nHe has performed on numerous prestigious stages within the State of Hawaiʻi\, including the Ritz-Carlton\, Kapalua’s Celebration of the Arts\, the Castle Theater at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center\, Oahu’s Keiki Hula Festival\, the Tahiti Fete\, and the Grand Hyatt Kauaʻi\, as well as stages in the continental United States and Japan. \nKamakakehau was one of the featured performers on the 2004 “Aloha Festivals Falsetto Contest Winners – Vol. 5” CD; he was the 2012 winner of 4th Annual Kani Ka Pila Grille Talent Search; and he worked with multiple Nā Hōkū Hanohano (Hawai'i's version of the Grammys) award-winning producer Dave Tucciarone on his debut solo album “Wahi Mahalo\,” for which Kamakakehau won the 2013 Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award for Extended Play – EP!

SUMMARY:Yoga In The Dark: Yoga Workshop On The Five Koshas with Hannah L
DESCRIPTION:Yoga In The Dark:Yoga Workshop On The Five Koshas\nwith Hannah Lipman \nFIVE WEEK SERIES:\nOCTOBER 15TH TO NOVEMBER 12TH\nSATURDAY EVENINGS FROM\n7PM-8:30PM\n$15 PER CLASS OR $50 SERIES \nExplore the five koshas through-\nASANA\nMEDITATION\nPRANAYAMA\nJoin Hannah in exploring the koshas through asana\, meditation\, and pranayama in a 5 week series. \nIn yoga\, we are said to be composed of five layers\, sheaths\, or bodies\, also known as kosha. Like Russian dolls\, each metaphorical “body” is contained within the next: annamaya kosha—the physical body; pranamaya kosha—the breath or life-force body; manomaya kosha—the mental body; vijanamaya kosha—the wisdom body; and anandamaya kosha—the bliss body. As a metaphor\, the koshas help describe what it feels like to do yoga from the inside—the process of aligning what in contemporary language we often call “mind\, body\, and spirit”. \n*Room will be lit with minimal lighting to help students go deep within their yoga practice.*

DESCRIPTION:Sunday October 16th 12:30pm-3:30pm\n$35 drop-in \nDivine Alignment presents: \nReconnecting with your Sacral Chakra \nIntuitive painting and yoga workshop \nCome and learn about the sacral chakra\,Svadhistana to reconnect with the flow of nature and your emotions through the awakening of your sensuality and body. \nThe Sacral chakra's purpose is to let go and create flow . When we are in-tune and this chakra is unblocked\, we are driven by the qualities of self-love and acceptance. This workshop will create a safe space to discuss topics such as sensuality\, creativity\, emotions\, and releasing what no longer serves us. \nWe’ll begin with an open discussion about sexuality\, learn how to recognize symptoms of a blocked or ublocked sacral chakra\, have a yoga asana practice that will bring balance to the sacral chakra\, and learn pranayama techniques that will open the sacral chakra. Afterward\, we’ll have a meditation connected with intuitive water painting\, and end with a sharing circle. \nNo yoga experience required. \nHope to see you there\, Aloha!

SUMMARY:Sunday Matinee - Puccini's La Boheme
DESCRIPTION:La Bohème is one of the most romantic love stories ever to grace the operatic stage\, and is arguably Puccini’s most popular work\, alongside his iconic Madama Butterfly. \nSet in Paris during the start of 1830s\, La Bohème tells the story of four young artists living in a garret (attic) and pursuing an idealistic “bohemian” lifestyle. When Rudolfo the poet meets Mimi they fall in love\, but the poverty of their lifestyle affects her health and after a whirlwind romance she tragically dies. \nFrom the romance of their first meeting in Act One\, to the joyous celebration of Café Momus on Christmas Eve with the delightful Musetta\, the opera moves to the soulful quartet of Act Three which leads to the tragedy of Act Four. Throughout the opera we hear some of Puccini’s best-loved melodies.
