SUMMARY:Meditative Coloring
DESCRIPTION:Can you remember the sense of peace and enjoyment you felt while coloring as a child? Can coloring help you relax? \nFrom choosing colors to the gentle\, repetitive motion of your hands as you bring color to paper\, coloring can be seen as a form of “active meditation”. Oftentimes\, when you think of meditation\, you think of sitting still for a long period of time. Stressful thoughts and future worries can be simply pushed aside as you take time to enjoy the present. \nProgram schedule is subject to change. Program is suitable for ages 16 and older. All materials will be supplied. Feel free to bring your favorite pencils\, pens\, or pastels. To arrange a sign language interpreter or other special accommodation\, please call the hosting library as soon as possible: 323-7585.

SUMMARY:New! Writers' Group
DESCRIPTION:A new writers' group will hold its first monthly meeting with subsequent meetings scheduled for the third Tuesday of each month. \nAll aspiring writers are invited to come together. Facilitator Eila Algood will moderate the meetings to give the participants a chance to practice writing\, discuss writing skills\, share their work\, enjoy useful feedback\, and share the joys and frustrations of the writing life. Algood\, a poet and writer herself\, has participated in other writing groups. She counts herself among the many writers who find value in the support of a writers’ network. \nAnyone interested in writing is invited to the monthly meetings—beginning writers to published authors\, the timid\, the brave\, serious writers or amateur scribblers\, the prolific and especially—the blocked. \nWriters are invited to bring samples of their work if they care to share\, however\, this is not necessary. All are welcome to listen\, to learn\, and to be inspired. Algood asks that everyone bring a pen and paper for writing. \nProgram schedule is subject to change. Program is intended for patrons ages 12 and older. For additional information on the writers’ group at North Kohala Public Library or to arrange special accommodation\, contact Janet Lam at 889-6655.

SUMMARY:BAMP Project Presents Shakey Graves
DESCRIPTION:BAMP Project presents Shakey Graves performing live in Honolulu at The Republik\, Tuesday\, March 15th\, 2016. Tickets on sale this Thursday\, January 7th at 10:00am at all the locations listed below. This is an All Ages accompanied by an Adult event. \n“The first album was me wanting to burn down my life\, cut my hair off\, and run screaming into the woods\,” says Alejandro Rose-Garcia. “This album is the trials and tribulations of becoming domesticated\, letting people into your world and letting go of selfishness—the story of becoming a pair\, losing that\, and reconciling with the loss and gain of love.” \nRose-Garcia is professionally known as Shakey Graves\, and with his new record\, And the War Came\, he extends the ground—emotionally and sonically—broken by his 2011 self-released debut album\, Roll the Bones\, which brought him national acclaim and\, three years later\, still ranks near the top of Bandcamp’s digital best-seller charts. \nRoll the Bones established the powerful\, mesmerizing Shakey Graves sound of Rose-Garcia accompanying himself on guitar and a handmade kick drum built out of an old suitcase. NPR Music named him one of 10 artists music fans “should’ve known in 2012\,” describing him as “astonishing…unclassifiably original. And frighteningly good.” Paste included him in a “Best of What’s Next” feature\, praising his “gnarly composite of blues and folk\,” while The New York Times observed that Shakey Graves “makes the one-man band approach look effortless.” \nAn opening act will be announced soon. \nDetails on the Show:\nWhere: The Republik\, 1349 Kapiolani Blvd 3rd Floor\, Honolulu\, HI 96814\nWhen: Tuesday\, March 15\, 2016\nLounge Doors: 6:00pm (21 and up)\nHall Doors: 7:00pm (All Ages accompanied by an Adult)\nShow: 8:00pm (All Ages accompanied by an Adult)\nPrices: $25.00 in advance plus applicable fees\, increase day of the show plus applicable fees \nTickets available Thursday\, January 7th at 10:00am at:\nBampproject.com / Jointherepublik.com / Flavorus.com / Local Motion Stores / Navy/Hickam ITT Offices / Army LTS Offices / UH Campus Center / The Safehouse (the Lounge within The Republik) Tuesday thru Saturday 6:00pm until 1:00am with a $2.00 per ticket Service Fee / The Republik Box Office Tuesday thru Friday 10:00 am until 6:00 pm with a $2.00 per ticket Service Fee (The Box Office will open at 9:00am for the on sale date only) \nIf you’re not familiar with Shakey Graves visit http://www.ShakeyGraves.com
