SUMMARY:Writers' Group
DESCRIPTION:A writers' group will hold its first monthly meeting with subsequent meetings scheduled for the third Tuesday of each month. \nAll aspiring writers are invited to come together. Facilitator Eila Algood will moderate the meetings to give the participants a chance to practice writing\, discuss writing skills\, share their work\, enjoy useful feedback\, and share the joys and frustrations of the writing life. Algood\, a poet and writer herself\, has participated in other writing groups. She counts herself among the many writers who find value in the support of a writers’ network. \nAnyone interested in writing is invited to the monthly meetings—beginning writers to published authors\, the timid\, the brave\, serious writers or amateur scribblers\, the prolific and especially—the blocked. \nWriters are invited to bring samples of their work if they care to share\, however\, this is not necessary. All are welcome to listen\, to learn\, and to be inspired. Algood asks that everyone bring a pen and paper for writing. \nProgram schedule is subject to change. Program is intended for patrons ages 12 and older. For additional information on the writers’ group at North Kohala Public Library or to arrange special accommodation\, contact Janet Lam at 889-6655.

SUMMARY:Movie Night - Searching for Sugar Man
DESCRIPTION:This movie tells the incredible true story of Rodriguez\, the greatist '70s rock icon who never was. After being discovered in a Detroit bar\, Rodriguez's sound struck two renowned producers and they signed a recording deal. But when the album bombed\, the singer disappeared into obscurity. A bootleg recording found its way into apartheid South Africa and over the next two decades\, he became a phenomenon there\, where he was rumored to have died. The film follows the story of two South African fans who set out to find out what really happened to their hero.

SUMMARY:Meditative Coloring
DESCRIPTION:Can you remember the sense of peace and enjoyment you felt while coloring as a child? Can coloring help you relax? \nFrom choosing colors to the gentle\, repetitive motion of your hands as you bring color to paper\, coloring can be seen as a form of “active meditation”. Oftentimes\, when you think of meditation\, you think of sitting still for a long period of time. With active meditation\, it is just the opposite: repetitive motions such as coloring cna help strengthen your focus and easily shift your attention back to a relaxed state. Stressful thoughts and future worries can be simply pushed aside as you take time to enjoy the present. Join us every Saturday for this mellow\, relaxing event. \nProgram schedule is subject to change. Program is suitable for ages 16 and older. All materials will be supplied. Feel free to bring your favorite pencils\, pens\, or pastels. To arrange a sign language interpreter or other special accommodation\, please call the hosting library as soon as possible: 323-7585.
