SUMMARY:BAMP Project presents Ty Dolla $ign
DESCRIPTION:BAMP Project presents TY Dolla $ign performing live in Honolulu at The Repulik\, Friday\, May 1st\, 2015. Tickets go on sale tomorrow\, March 27th at 9:00am at the locations listed below. This is an all ages accompanied by an adult event. \nRight now\, Atlantic Records artist TY Dolla $ign might be the hottest singer in LA. His breakout mix-tape\, 2012’s Beach House gets nastier than Luther Campbell or Nate Dogg ever wanted to be. Drugs\, sex\, and stripper booty popping: Just the finer things in life. His hit single “My Cabana” was not only last summer’s 24-7 party anthem\, it figures to be played in every pool and beachside cabana from here until the liquor finally runs out (or no more people can fit in). “Beach House is definitely who I am\, so I’m talking that shit\,” Ty says. “It’s everything that I’ve lived in life. It’s bringing that R&B and soul with a slap.” Ty writes some of the most well crafted and melodic pop songs you hear on the radio. Y.G. is signed to Def Jam and is one of the most popular street rappers in LA\, but it wasn’t until Tywrote and produced his hit “Toot it and Boot it”\, that he earned radio airplay. Welcome to the omnivorous world of the South Central- raised star born\, Tyrone Griffin. \nTy Dolla $ign might be heir to DJ Quik’s title of America’s most complete artist. This is why he’s collaborated with everyone from top 40 perennials like Wiz Khalifa and Chris Brown\, to West Coast hood stars like Y.G. and Joe Moses. And in the immediate future\, Beach House 2 is adding a sundeck\, Jacuzzi\, and more bad chicks to the cabana. “It’s just the next step—some club joints\, some slower ones. I’m saying things that every man feels. It’s going to get a lot of people laid this summer\,” Ty says. “But I’ve stepped up the music and production\, the singing and the videos. You’ll see. “ \nA local opening act will be announced soon. \nDetails on the Show:\nWhere: The Republik\, 1349 Kapiolani Blvd 3rd Floor\, Honolulu\, HI 96814\nWhen: Friday\, May 1st\, 2015\nLounge Doors: 6:00pm (21 and over)\nHall: 7:00pm (All Ages\, Accompanied)\nShow: 9:00pm (All Ages\, Accompanied) \nPrices: $30.00 Regular General Admission in Advance plus applicable fees\, increase day of the show plus applicable fees. \nTickets available at 9:00am March 27th at:\nBampproject.com / Jointherepublik.com / Flavorus.com / Local Motion Stores / Navy/Hickam ITT Offices / About the Goods / UH Campus Center / The Safehouse (the Lounge within The Republik) Tuesday thru Saturday 6:00pm until 1:00am with a $2.00 Service Fee per ticket / The Republik Box Office Monday thru Friday 9:00am until 6:00pm with a $2.00 Service Fee per ticket \nIf you aren’t familiar with TY Dolla $ign\, visit http://www.dollasignworld.com

SUMMARY:Altar Native Revisted
DESCRIPTION:Award winning Slack Key\, Folk Rocker\, Millicent Cummings presents a timely musical odyssey entitled\, ‘Altar Native'\, (Revisited). Several of the songs to be performed were presented by Hawai'i Public Radio in 2008\, the live recording of which was a Hoku Award Nominee. She will also be performing many new songs written over the past 14 years for each of the eight Hawaiian Islands about the inspiring beauty of Hawai'i\, as well as the tragic paradoxes that simultaneously exist.\nMusically\, this presentation is as diverse as the people who coexist here\, dancing from one genre to another…Through the ruckus terrain of Rock and Roll\, the peaceful shores of the tender ballad and even the playful satire of the Irish dirge…Each in their own unique\, slack key tunings for both guitar and ukulele.\nCummings has chosen to give a solo concert this time\, unaccompanied and genuine…A time when the Hawaiian people and supporters of indigenous rights are uniting for a more sustainable future. She is an Aloha Aina Warrior\, having played benefit concerts\, produced festivals\, rallied and volunteered countless hours on Kaho'olawe\, Kaua'i\, O'ahu\, Moloka'i and the Big Island in restoration and preservation projects. This dynamic\, eco-feminist songwriter sings with Aloha-filled\, positive messages to honor the Land and the Children of the Land at a furtive and important cross roads in Hawaiian history. \nThis One Night Only concert will be held in the theater at the Hawai'i Museum of Contemporary Art in downtown Hilo from 7 to 9 PM. Tickets are $10 for members and $12 for non-members at the door. For more information visit www.ehcc.org or www.millicentcummings.com We hope you join us!…Malama Pono and ALOHA! \n“Millicent Cummings is one of the most exciting new voices to come from the Islands in years.\nHer songs are profound and her vocals are fabulous” -Jerry Santos of Olomana\n“Altar Native is one of the great all time artistic\, spiritual and political expressions of Hawai'i Nei” -Evan Tector\n“A diverse and inspired contemporary individual\, unique to Hawaii and the world.” -Makana\n“Awesome\, Awesome” -Ledward Ka'apana

SUMMARY:New Adventures in Self Publishing
DESCRIPTION:Author Jill Engledow will talk about “New Adventures in Self Publishing” at [library and date]. Engledow\, who has previously been published by traditional methods\, recently put out a novel as both an e-book and a print-on-demand version. These two technologies\, along with the Internet\, are driving a new kind of book publishing that is still in the pioneer stages as writers and publishers learn how to best use these tools. For readers\, the changes have meant fewer brick-and-mortar bookstores but greater access to a wide range of “indie” books and the convenience of downloading books to e-readers. Engledow will discuss how these changes are playing out and how several Maui authors are using these technologies to publish and distribute their own books.\nJill Engledow is an award-winning writer who specializes in Maui history. After working for 17 years as a reporter and editor at The Maui News\, she became a free-lance writer in 1998. Her books include Island Life 101: A Newcomer's Guide to Hawaii and Haleakala: A History of the Maui Mountain. Her first novel\, The Island Decides\, is now available on Amazon.com. \nFor more info call: 243-5766
