Jaya Lakshmi was one of the pioneers of ‘Kirtronica’ with her previous band “Lost at Last”\, founded in Maui\, Hawaii in 1997. Over the last few years Jaya Lakshmi has composed original electronic music using Ableton Live. Similar to the the Lost at Last sound\, her new music is a mixture of house and tribal trance beats\, with (recordings of) acoustic instruments like tabla\, guitar\, flute\, and sarod. In the current duo format\, Jaya Lakshmi sings live while Ananda runs Ableton Live. DESCRIPTION:Gill McBarnet\, a local author and illustrator of children's books in Hawaii\, will conduct a read aloud and coloring program of her book “The Rainbow Mermaids of Hawaii”.  \nShe was born and raised in Zimbabwe and became a school teacher before moving into the world of publishing where she worked in the magazine world. \nGill and her husband reside on Maui and have published her line of children's books  since 1983. Her first book\, “The Whale Who Wanted to be Small”\, and her beloved classic “The Goodnight Gecko”\, are among a total of thirteen books she has written\, illustrated and published. \nThis 45-minute program is suitable for ages 2 and older. Young children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
