DESCRIPTION:Paint or color a beautiful stained glass art based on the story “Beauty and the Beast.” Participants will be recreating the magical rose that represented the Beast’s chance for love and redemption.  For those who do not wish to view the movie\, you may start your craft making at 6:00pm.  This program is for all ages: Keiki to Kapuna. \nParticipate in our new monthly Art Lab\, which will provide crafters access to supplies that will enable them to express their creativity through various formats: adult/all-ages coloring\, felting\, and limited craft kits. This will not be an instructor led art class but rather open crafting time. However\, occasionally the library will provide access to art or craft kits for keiki to kapuna to use during art lab times. Participants are also encouraged to bring their own supplies or art/craft projects to work on during art lab (with the exception of dangerous tools and equipment) the library reserves the right to deny usage due to safety. This is a space to share and collaborate\, so the sharing of ideas\, skills\, and knowledge is encouraged but not required. \nChildren ages 13 and under are required to be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian. \nProgram schedule is subject to change. They will perform the following pieces: Vivaldi\, Spring\, from The Four Seasons\, first movement; Faure\, Pavane; Coldplay\, Viva la Vida. Also\, Bartok\, Duet for Two Violins (Dance from Matamoros and Bagpipes); Mozart\, Eine Kleine Nachtmusik\, first movement; Beethoven\, String Trio\, Opus 8\, second movment. And finally\, Mascagni\, Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana; Delibes\, Flower Song from Lakme. \nThe performance will be held in the Hawaii State Library’s front lobby.

Hear new and old musical favorites\, listen to stories and poetic verse\, and be entertained by the extraordinary talent in our community. \nKalani’s Open Mic will now take place on the third Saturday of every month! Donations are gratefully accepted.  \nWe ask performers to sign up at the entrance and perform one song/piece only at less than 5 minutes.
