She embodies the passion and beauty of polo in the Aloha State and has been a vital member of Hawaii Polo since its inception over 50 years ago. As a polo player\, spouse of Hawaii Polo founder\, Fred W. Dailey\, mother of former Hawaii Polo General Manager (GM)\, Mike Dailey\, and grandmother of current GM Devon Dailey\, Murph has introduced thousands upon thousands of people to polo in Hawaii and beyond always extending a welcoming hand and positive spirit whether it be here in Mokuleia or on one of her many trips to polo meccas around the globe. \nSPECIAL GUEST: MAKANA\nBursting into the top of the Hawaii music scene while still in his teens\, Ki Ho'alu singer-songwriter\, Makana displayed international\, star talent from his earliest days of public performance. Since that time\, he has become a complete musician and person – musically both a student and ambassador of Hawaiian traditions while also a trailblazer of new sounds and approaches – personally\, pushing himself to continually explore\, stretch and grow. Whether touring alongside Joe Walsh and Bad Company (this past June / July)\, performing for President Obama and world leaders or stumping for political change\, Makana pours his heart and soul into everything he does and every note he plays. \nHAWAII CENTER FOR FOOD SAFETY FUNDRAISER\nHawaii Center for Food Safety (HCFS) recognizes the critical importance of sustainable agriculture in Hawaii and strives to move our state to a healthy existence through education\, community organizing and policy. With our geographic isolation and having 50% of our lands dedicated to (zoned for) agricultural use\, there's no denying the gravity of this need. On August 7th\, a portion of Hawaii Polo IN PERSON ticket proceeds will be donated to HCFS. \nALL INVITED\nAll are invited to join us as we salute Murph with a joy-filled celebration commensurate with all that she has given to us and our community. \nSunday in the Country! \nphoto: Cameron Brooks

SUMMARY:Stephen Inglis
DESCRIPTION:Stephen Inglis is August's featured artist in our free concert series\, First Sundays. \nStephen Inglis is a versatile artist. He crosses genres\, yet his music always radiates integrity. Born and raised in Honolulu\, he plays Grammy-nominated Hawaiian slack key guitar. He records and tours with the most respected traditional musicians. His duet album with legend Dennis Kamakahi\, Waimaka Helelei \, won Hawaii’s highest musical honor\, a Na Hoku Hanohano Award\, and the CD is on permanent display at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington\, DC. Barely out of his teens\, Stephen formed a group with legendary Grateful Dead drummer\, Bill Kreutzmann. \nAlong with his strong respect for tradition\, Stephen is a creative innovator. His album Slacking on Dylan opened up new territory for slack key\, winning him a Hawaii Music Award. He has made three albums of his own singer-songwriter originals\, acoustic and electric; and a new one\, Learning You By Heart \, has just been released in the Spring of 2015. \nStephen lives the music life to the full: club gigs\, concerts\, festivals\, touring\, recording. He has played to sold out crowds at esteemed venues such as The Barns at Wolftrap and the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley. Stephen keeps expanding his musical range. And he is a great collaborator\, always open to finding common ground in melody and harmony. \nFor a full bio\, press\, music and more\, visit http://www.stepheninglis.com\nhttp://www.facebook.com/stepheninglismusic

SUMMARY:Wai and Kai: Water in Hawai'i
DESCRIPTION:North Kohala Public Library in Kapa'au will present a series of three “talk story” sessions on Hawai’i’s History with North Kohala historian\, Boyd D. Bond\, in August\, September\, and October 2016. \nThe first session at 6:30 p.m.on Monday\, August 8\, will focus on “Wai and Kai: Water in Hawaii”. As Bond says\, \n“Water is wealth in Hawaii\, providing food and life itself. Both fresh and salt water are home to endemic species of wildlife\, yet\, only 10% of the streams in Hawaii flow year round and droughts occur frequently. Kanawai\, the Hawaiian word for ‘law’ in modern Hawaii\, was the ancient code dictating water usage\, literally–sharing water. “ \nIn this talk story session\, Bond will compare traditional water use to the way water is used in Hawai'i today. \nIn the second presentation on Monday\, September 12\, Bond will describe “George Vancouver and his four voyages to Hawai'i ”. For the final program on Monday\, October 10\, Bond will discuss “Kū’ē Petitions\, early Hawaiian opposition to annexation”. \nEach hour long presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m. \nBoyd Bond’s knowledge of Hawai'i’s history stems from his academic studies and from a lifetime spent in Hawaii as a 6th generation descendent of early western settlers in Hawaii. Boyd was raised in Hawai'i in a sugar plantation family\, living on plantations throughout the state. \nOf his interest in Hawaiian history\, Bond says\, “I can’t ever remember a time when I wasn’t immersed in it. Many of the stories of Hawai'i’s history are also our family stories.” Bond earned a BA in Hawaiian history from the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa and went on to earn a masters degree in education. \nCall the North Kohala Public Library at 889-6655 for more information. Contact the library three weeks in advance if a sign language interpreter or other special accommodation is required.

SUMMARY:Silversun Pickups Maui
DESCRIPTION:BAMP PROJECT PRESENTS: Silversun Pickups \nSilversun Pickups’ first new album in more than three years\, BETTER NATURE sees the Silverlake\, CA-based band partnering once again with producer Jacknife Lee (U2\, Two Door Cinema Club\, Crystal Castles)\, with whom they so successfully collaborated on 2012’s visionary NECK OF THE WOODS. Songs like “Friendly Fires” and “Cradle (Better Nature)” were created and crafted in Lee’s Topanga studio\, the band building out organically from Aubert’s spare songwriting demos. The result is fluid and freewheeling\,“oozy\,” in Aubert’s words\, with heavily cranked guitars\, propulsive rhythms\, and seemingly infinite textures. \nSilversun Pickups is among the most dynamic and creative rock bands of the modern era\, hailed far and wide for their inimitable merging of ethereal melodies and pure sonic force. From the indie rock opening salvo of 2005’s PIKUL EP to 2012’s far-reaching NECK OF THE WOODS\, each successive release has seen the Silverlake\, CA-based band boldly venture into uncharted terrain\, bravely pushing their imagination and ability towards new and surprising summits. BETTER NATURE marks the debut release from Silversun Pickups’ own New Machine Recordings. \nDetails on the Maui Show:\nDoors: 6:00pm (All ages accompanied by an adult)\nShow: 8:00pm (All ages accompanied by an adult)\nPrices: $36.00 General Admission plus applicable fees\, increase day of the show plus applicable fees\nThis is an all ages show accompanied by an adult. \nTickets available at:\nBampproject.com / MauiArts.org / MACC Box Office or charge by phone 808-242- 7469

SUMMARY:Silversun Pickups
\nDetails on the show:\nLounge Doors: 6:00pm (21 and up)\nHall Doors: 7:00pm (All ages accompanied by an adult)\nShow: 8:00pm (All ages accompanied by an adult)\nPrices: $36.00 General Admission plus applicable fees\, increase day of the show plus applicable fees \nThis is an all ages show accompanied by an adult. \nTickets on sale at all Bamp Ticket locations:\nBampProject.com / JointheRepublik.com / Flavorus.com / Local Motion Stores / Navy / Hickam ITT Offices / Army LTS Offices / UH Campus Center / The Safehouse (the Lounge within The Republik) Tuesday through Saturday 6:00pm until 1:00am with a $2.00 service fee per ticket / The Republik Box Office Tuesday through Friday 10:00am until 6:00pm with a $2.00 service fee per ticket.

SUMMARY:Rhythm Full Circle at Kalani
DESCRIPTION:Immerse yourself in this form of moving\, musical exploration. Develop your awareness and deepen your understanding of rhythm in its many forms. You don’t need to play an instrument. People from all paths come together to transform their relationship to music\, to each other\, and to life. Bring your curiosity!\nIn a two-hour rhythm circle\, we vocalize\, step\, and clap simultaneously. Gently held and supported by the group\, we weave different rhythms on several levels. Our experience of repeatedly falling into chaos and then re-emerging into a higher level of organization leads us to an awareness not only of music\, but also of learning and life. It’s an opportunity for us –together– to explore the power of rhythm to instruct\, challenge\, and heal.\nWear comfortable clothes and an open mind. Yoga mats are available for your use.\nmore info: http://rhythmfullcircle.com/

SUMMARY:Programs Support Day
DESCRIPTION:We invite volunteers who are interested in taking an active role in keeping Maui County beautiful to join us for our Programs Support Day! \nPrograms Support Day volunteers directly assist important community-based programs in whatever capacity is most needed. These regular volunteer days are crucial to the continued success of ongoing conservation and sustainable waste management programs year-round. \nEvery second Saturday of the month from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm a team of staff and volunteers will work together to respond to a current need in litter prevention\, recycling\, or beautification project. \nBecause our needs may vary from month to month\, please sign up to reserve your spot and get the update on what projects are currently in need of assistance for this month and where we will be working! \nFor more info\, visit http://www.MalamaMauiNui.org/events
