SUMMARY:Net Recycling Party- Come Celebrate
DESCRIPTION:All of the nets that we have been removing from the beach and reefs have been stock piled waiting to collect enough to send to H-Power on Oahu to recycle for electricity rather than filling up the landfills. With the assistance of heavy equipment\, we will be loading about 14 tons of nets into a Matson container to ship to Oahu. We would like everyone that has participated in any way and even those who haven’t participated yet but will in the future to come and have a small celebration for all our hard work to remove this debris from our reefs and beaches. \nThe equipment will do most of the work for us\, but bring some gloves and rakes to pick up the small debris. After the debris is loaded in the container we will have a party and socialize for a little while. The refreshment will be provided. It is not necessary\, but feel free to bring any other food items to share.\nFor more info Call 808-635-2593

SUMMARY:Jean Erdman and Joseph Campbell: A Mythical Duet
DESCRIPTION:Hawaii-born Jean Erdman began the explorations that would become the foundation of her extraordinary career as dancer\, choreographer\, and theatrical director at Sarah Lawrence College\, which she attended from 1934 to 1937. There\, she studied with famed choreographer Martha Graham\, whose company she would later join\, and with mythologist\, Joseph Campbell\, whom she married in 1938. \nFor sixty years\, Erdman and Campbell’s careers intertwined in a remarkable mythical duet that impacted an array of artists and intellectuals around the world. In 1990 Erdman and Robert Walter\, Campbell’s editor and literary executor founded the Joseph Campbell Foundation (JCF) to “preserve\, protect and perpetuate” his pioneering work. \nJoin us at the Hawaii State Library as\, Walter\, president and executive director of the JCF shares stories and anecdotes as he traces and recounts highlights in the long collaboration between Jean and Joe\, “a mythical duet.”

SUMMARY:Intro to Flow Series
DESCRIPTION:Intro to Flow Series with Amanda Webster\, ERYT-500\nDates: Saturday\, November 5th and December 3rd\nTime: 12:30-2:30\nFees: $35 for both OR $20/workshop \nWe often think of Vinyasa or Flow classes as being faster or more intense than a Hatha or Basics class\, and while that may sometimes be true\, at their essence\, Flow classes teach you to maintain an attentive\, centered mind-state while transitioning from one point in time to the next\, which is called Vinyasa Krama: “To link together with attention and care in a way that mimics nature”. It teaches us to maintain the steadiness and ease we've established in the stillness of a single pose as we transition from one pose to the next in a breath-centric way…it helps us train the mind and body to roll with the waves of life even in moments of chaos or stress.\nIn these workshops\, apply your understanding of alignment principles and breathing techniques as we gently and fluidly transition from one asana to the next in a meditative\, rhythmic flow. We will break down common sequences into layers\, such as plank to cobra to downward facing dog. Find a layer that works for you and figure out how to accommodate injuries in your body and prevent other injuries from occurring; there will be an emphasis on protecting the joints and using the core! Each class will begin with a 45- or 60-minute breakdown of poses and transition then segue into a flow practice. \nThese workshops are a continuation of the knowledge established in our Beginner's Series and will eliminate any intimidation or satisfy any curiosity you may have about taking the next step into a Flow-based practice. This is also a great way to refresh your existing vinyasa practice!

SUMMARY:Yoga In The Dark: Yoga Workshop On The Five Koshas with Hannah L
DESCRIPTION:Yoga In The Dark:Yoga Workshop On The Five Koshas\nwith Hannah Lipman \nFIVE WEEK SERIES:\nOCTOBER 15TH TO NOVEMBER 12TH\nSATURDAY EVENINGS FROM\n7PM-8:30PM\n$15 PER CLASS OR $50 SERIES \nExplore the five koshas through-\nASANA\nMEDITATION\nPRANAYAMA\nJoin Hannah in exploring the koshas through asana\, meditation\, and pranayama in a 5 week series. \nIn yoga\, we are said to be composed of five layers\, sheaths\, or bodies\, also known as kosha. Like Russian dolls\, each metaphorical “body” is contained within the next: annamaya kosha—the physical body; pranamaya kosha—the breath or life-force body; manomaya kosha—the mental body; vijanamaya kosha—the wisdom body; and anandamaya kosha—the bliss body. As a metaphor\, the koshas help describe what it feels like to do yoga from the inside—the process of aligning what in contemporary language we often call “mind\, body\, and spirit”. \n*Room will be lit with minimal lighting to help students go deep within their yoga practice.*

SUMMARY:Miguel Migs at The Safehouse
DESCRIPTION:Electric Palms Legacy Series presents Miguel Migs performing live at The Safehouse\, the lounge within The Republik\, Saturday\, November 5th\, 2016. \nTickets will be available exclusively to BAMP Blast eNewsletter Subscribers Wednesday\, October 19th at 10:00am until Friday\, October 21st at midnight\, online only. Tickets will be on sale to the General Public Saturday\, October 22nd at 9:00am online only and at all the locations listed below beginning Monday\, October 24th. \nThis is a 21 and up event. \nMiguel Migs grew up in Northern California on his parent’s diverse collection of classic rock\, blues\, funk\, soul and reggae records – which helped set the tone for his musical inspirations. He infuses these creative influences into his own sound\, which combines this wide range of styles\, blending them together into his own unique artistry. \nMigs emerged from the 90’s deep house underground scene to become the kind of artist who transcends the stylistic limitations of a genre so very few can. His musical journey began after picking up a guitar in his early teenage years and his first outlet was writing songs and playing in Dub/Reggae bands. Although Migs always loved and listened to all different styles of music\, in the early 90’s he connected to the soulful sounds of Deep House. By the mid ’90s he began experimenting with producing electronic dance music. And by the time the new millennium dawned\, a string of releases and remixes on numerous leading indie dance labels earned him an enviable reputation among discerning dance music fans worldwide. As Petalpusher\, he’d also become a stalwart of the hugely influential Naked Music stable with his original productions\, remixes and compilations. \nA local opening act will be announced soon.
