SUMMARY:Writers' Group
DESCRIPTION:A new writers' group will hold its first monthly meeting with subsequent meetings scheduled for the third Tuesday of each month. \nAll aspiring writers are invited to come together. Facilitator Eila Algood will moderate the meetings to give the participants a chance to practice writing\, discuss writing skills\, share their work\, enjoy useful feedback\, and share the joys and frustrations of the writing life. Algood\, a poet and writer herself\, has participated in other writing groups. She counts herself among the many writers who find value in the support of a writers’ network. \nAnyone interested in writing is invited to the monthly meetings—beginning writers to published authors\, the timid\, the brave\, serious writers or amateur scribblers\, the prolific and especially—the blocked. \nWriters are invited to bring samples of their work if they care to share\, however\, this is not necessary. All are welcome to listen\, to learn\, and to be inspired. Algood asks that everyone bring a pen and paper for writing. \nProgram schedule is subject to change. Program is intended for patrons ages 12 and older. For additional information on the writers’ group at North Kohala Public Library or to arrange special accommodation\, contact Janet Lam at 889-6655.

SUMMARY:BAMP Project presents Strung Out
DESCRIPTION:Six years is the amount of time that has passed since Strung Out’s last album. The Southern California tech-punk quintet had been so reliable for two decades—write\, record\, tour\, repeat cycle roughly once every two years—that to go this long without new music felt like cause for alarm. Cruz & Co. were able to put their time off to good use\, focusing their energy on the creation of Transmission.Alpha.Delta\, out March 24 on their longtime label Fat Wreck Chords.\nAnd elevate it he did; Transmission.Alpha.Delta is an album well worth its half-decade wait\, with incredible songs like “Magnolia\,” “Modern Drugs” and “Tesla” lyrically tackling difficult issues like drug addiction\, faith and even the technological brainwashing of today’s youth while musically measuring up with the best moments of the band’s back catalog. \nLocal bands 13th Legion and 86 List will be opening the show. \nDetails on the Show:\nWhere: The Republik\, 1349 Kapiolani Blvd #30 Honolulu\, HI 96814\nWhen: Thursday\, May 19th\, 2016\nSafehouse Doors: 6:00pm (21 and over)\nHall Doors: 7:00pm (All ages accompanied by an adult)\nShow: 8:00pm (All ages accompanied by an adult)\nPrices: $25.00 General Admission plus applicable fees\, increase day of the show plus applicable fees. \nTickets available at:\nBampProject.com / JointheRepublik.com / Flavorus.com / Local Motion Stores / Navy/Hickam ITT Offices / Army LTS Offices / UH Campus Center / The Safehouse (the Lounge within The Republik) Tuesday through Saturday 6:00pm until 1:00am with a $2.00 service fee per ticket / The Republik Box Office Tuesday through Friday 10:00am until 6:00pm with a $2.00 service fee per ticket (The Box Office will open at 9:00am for the on sale date only) \nIf you aren't familiar with Strung Out please visit http://www.strungout.com
