SUMMARY:Rescheduled! "The Last Dalai Lama?" Hilo Screenings
DESCRIPTION:This movie has been rescheduled by popular demand\, since we were sadly unable to show it in September! Everyone was so excited to see this movie we just HAD to bring it back.\n~Save the dates for November <3 \nTickets: $8 GA; $7 Seniors/ Students. Tickets may be purchased at the box office or over the phone with a credit card at 934-7010\, M-F\, 10am-3pm.\n*If you purchased a movie ticket in September for "The Last Dalai Lama?" and didn't come in for a refund\, we WILL accept those tickets for any of the rescheduled screenings! You must bring the ticket with you for admission.* Mahalo passes are also accepted! \nMore than an investigation into the controversy surrounding the 14th Dalai Lama and his exile from Tibet in 1959\, THE LAST DALAI LAMA? finds His Holiness\, full of compassion\, humor\, and even anger in his ninth decade. Filmmaker Mickey Lemle (Ram Dass\, Fierce Grace) grants viewers intimate access to the Dalai Lama and those who have been touched by his vast influence from George W. Bush to the film’s accomplished composer\, Philip Glass. In an exploration of wholeness: the Dalai Lama confronts aging\, the intersection of science and faith\, the historic confrontation between Tibet and China\, and the pressing question on everyone’s mind: \nWill he be the last Dalai Lama?

SUMMARY:Electric Palms Presents Thomas Jack
DESCRIPTION:We’re excited to announce that Thomas Jack will be playing The Republik on Saturday\, November 11th! \nBuy Tickets ➜ https://www.seetickets.us/event/Thomas-Jack/353833\n——-\nFew modern electronic artists have inspired a musical landscape shift like Thomas Jack has. The Australian DJ and producer pioneered the phenomenon known as “tropical house\,” a label which aptly captures the sub-genre’s summery\, laid-back essence. Culling inspiration from styles as varied as deep house\, acoustic rock\, and jam bands\, he utilizes live instruments including saxophones\, flutes\, pianos\, and guitars\, resulting in a sound that’s man-made yet organic\, danceable yet prime for chilling. Turn on any Top 40 radio station today and you’ll hear its influence in chart-topping works from Felix Jaehn’s “Cheerleader” remix to Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean?”. \nJack coined the term “tropical house” three years ago in jest\, but it was evident he was onto something when other up-and-coming artists latched onto the label. What once began as an inside joke became a brand\, as he launched a mix series podcast in its namesake—which to date has accumulated over 24 million streams—alongside a spate of remixes for One Republic\, Of Monsters & Men\, and Gabriel Rios; and original tracks such as “Symphony\,” “The Final Speech\,” and his debut single “Rivers\,” which has earned over 50 million streams on Spotify. His performances at major festivals such as Coachella\, Outside Lands\, and Ultra Europe\, as well as an all-tropical house tour—the first of its kind—bring endless summer to all parts of world\, no matter what time of year. \nFinding kinship in Jack’s taste-making spirit was none other than consummate curator Pete Tong\, who has taken the young Aussie under his wing as a mentor\, telling Billboard\, “He reminds me of myself.” Last year\, Tong signed him to Parlophone Records\, which is home to his FFRR imprint. Since then\, Jack has followed in the dance icon’s entrepreneurial footsteps by curating stages at Electric Zoo and TomorrowWorld. \nAs tropical house continues to shine in the spotlight\, Thomas Jack is now looking past it in an effort to expand his horizons; recent club sets lean more toward an eclectic mix of various sub-genres of house that some fans have never heard before. What he does next\, one would be wise to pay close attention\, for dance music’s next craze won’t be too far behind. \nLocal openers will be announced soon. \nDetails on Show:\nWhere: The Republik\, 1349 Kapiolani Blvd 3rd Floor\, Honolulu\, HI 96814\nWhen: November\, 11\, 2017\nLounge: 8:00 pm (21 and up)\nAll Doors:	9:00 pm (18 and up)\nShow: 10:00 pm (18 and up)\nPrices: $25 General Admission plus applicable fees\n$30 General Admission plus applicable fees\n$35 General Admission plus applicable fees
