SUMMARY:40 Days to Transformation with Molly Masaoka
DESCRIPTION:January 15th- Feb. 19th EVERY SUNDAY Group Check-in @ 11:45-12:45PM \nCan 40 Days of Yoga Lead to Personal Transformation? \nAbsolutely. Yoga practice transforms our life when it becomes an integral part of it: when it is a daily practice that we are sincerely committed to for our own well being as much as for all beings. The asana is only one of the 8 limbs of yoga practice that ultimately guide us toward a more enlightened way of living. Though our practice of any limb will gradually lead to an interest and practice of another. \nTransformation? Well…it is generally agreed on that 21-40 days is the time needed to ingrain a new habit. It is recommended that the activity be performed at least once a day and suggested that it may help if it is at about the same time each day. People around the country are participating in a 40 day practice of asana\, meditation and nutrition combined with the study of yogic philosophy and many of them say yes\, it has truly been life changing. We would like to offer you the opportunity to cultivate positive new habits through the exploration of yoga and experience for yourself your own personal transformation! \n“A few days of yoga practice and contemplation may help for a short time\, but the benefits will not last forever. We have to engage in these practices constantly because although we may be further on today than yesterday\, tomorrow we may slip back a step tomorrow. ” TKV Desikachar\, The Heart of Yoga \nFour days of studio Yoga practice per week.\nYou may attend any class and any time of the day you like. We ask is that your commitment to this be sincere. \nTwo days of home Yoga practice or Studio Practice per week.\nA powerful way to learn to motivate yourself on your mat. You can use the practice outlined in the book\, or a CD or DVD\, or let the creative juices flow and design your own practice. If you are not yet inspired to practice at home\, please join us at the studio for these 2 days! \nOne day per week of “active rest”.\nMake a commitment to include rest and rejuvenation in your weekly schedule – get a massage/bodywork\, sleep-in\, walk in nature\, etc. \nCleansing diet\nNot so much a diet to follow\, but using the guidelines set out in Baron Baptiste's book\, 40 Days to Personal Revolution\, you will intuitively learn to make healthy\, wholesome food choices that are nourishing and sustaining. \nThree day fruit fast\nDone in the fourth week\, this is an amazing way to give your digestive system a rest\, lighten your body and cleanse from the inside out. \nDaily meditation practices\nEach day there is a morning and evening meditation practice to complete. Again\, guidelines are in the book\, or you can use a meditation style that works for you (CD\, etc) \nDevelopment of a personal exploration diary\nWe suggest you keep your own journal during this experience\, it can be very empowering to look back over it at the end and see how you have transformed! There are questions at the end of each chapter of 40 Days that are designed to provoke introspection\, helping you to delve into your mind\, identifying old mental patterns and creating new ones. Your journaling is for you only\, and does not need to be shared. \nGroup discussion and meditation\nEach Sunday afternoon from 11:45am-12:45pm (sometimes until 1:45pm) Molly will lead a group “check-in” where we share thoughts and feelings that come up\, learn to meditate\, and most importantly meet our fellow yogis in transformation. \nThe Investment $225 includes:\n•40 Days of Unlimited Yoga (class cards will be frozen)\n•40 Days to Personal Revolution' by Baron Baptiste\n•Weekly check-ins\, group discussion and meditations that include:\n*FREE mini acupuncture\, Neuroemmotional Technique sessions with acupuncturist and Chinese Herablist Momi Aiu and other local holistic demos and\neducational sessions on massage\, essential oils and much more!\n•Discount Cards valid during program for acupuncture with Momi Aiu\, massage with Elisha Starr\, cranial-sacral with Hope Delaney\, esthetician services with Iris Huddy\,\njuices from Big Island Juice\, healthy food from Surf Break Cafe\n•10% off all items in the boutique\n•Cleansing Diet and Three Day cleanse (many options available)\n•Development of personal exploration diary (journal included)\n-A supportive kula to support you on your journey!\nThe Reward: ONE WEEK OF FREE YOGA!

SUMMARY:Jivamukti Yoga Series
DESCRIPTION:Thursdays Jan 12th to Feb 9th\n10:30-11:45am 5 weeks series\n$15 for drop in or 5 series for $60 \nAn internationally-recognized form of hatha yoga\, Jivamukti Yoga is founded on five tenets—ahimsa (non-violence)\, bhakti(devotion)\, nada (music)\, shastra(scripture) and dhyana (meditation). The method emphasizes enlightenment or Self-realization as the goal of the practice\, hence the name Jivamukti\, which is a derivation of the Sanskrit word jivanmuktih\, meaning “liberation while living.” It centers on the importance of establishing an elevated—i.e.\, selfless—intention as the motivation for one's practice. Jivamukti is an integrated method\, incorporating elements of raja yoga (ethical\, physical\, breathing and meditative practices)\, bhakti yoga (devotional practices)\, karma yoga (practices of selfless service) and jñana yoga (intellectual and meditative practices). In the state of enlightenment\, one realizes the oneness or interconnectedness of all being; hence\, Jivamukti emphasizes the importance of veganism\, environmentalism and political activism as key practices toward the goal. Jivamukti Yoga teachers are trained in a demanding program that covers these practices\, as well as the traditional subjects such as asana practice and yoga philosophy. Jivamukti Yoga classes are rigorous\, and the goal of the practice—enlightenment—is remembered throughout by the teacher and student alike.

SUMMARY:Little Fire Ants
DESCRIPTION:The Community Seed Library\, sponsored by Friends of the Libraries\, Kona (F.O.L.K.)\, presents Little Fire Ant Awareness Meeting. \nLittle Fire Ants (LFA) have been identified by Hawai’i Ant Lab in multiple samples from Kailua-Kona\, prompting this program. If you’ve been stung by Little Fire Ants\, you know why these little ants are such a major problem. LFA are tiny\, only as long as a penny is thick. They are reddish-orange in color and are relatively slow moving. LFA can sting you\, your family\, and your pets\, as well as have major impacts on our agriculture industry. The first step to knowing if you have LFA is to do a simple survey. Handouts will be given at the program. \nA representative from the Hawai’i Ant Lab (HAL) will present an informational session including a question and answer session on LFA. HAL will cover ant biology and methods for control. Understanding LFA biology can help the community control the ant problem. The HAL is based in Hilo\, and they work with people in Hawai’i to provide solutions for the many impacts caused by this and other invasive ants. Their mission is to protect Hawai’i from new introductions of invasive ants\, prevent the inter- and intra-island spread of existing invasive ant species\, provide sound\, practical treatment methods for homeowners\, natural resource managers and industry\, and eradicate new incursions whenever possible. \nThe HAL on the web: http://www.littlefireants.com \nProgram schedule is subject to change. Contact the library 15 days in advance to request a sign language interpreter or if special accommodations are needed. For more information\, call Kailua-Kona Public Library at 327-4327.
