SUMMARY:Yoga for Life
DESCRIPTION:Whether a beginner or long-time practitioner \, everyone will face aging or injury. If familiar activities begin to hurt\, or modifications in class feel daunting\, it can be tempting to give up on yoga. But regardless of body or ability\, yoga can help us live lives of greater flexibility\, balance and vitality. This workshop is for anyone who’d like a deeper understanding of how yoga asana is working on the body\, in order to make more intelligent modifications over time\, so that the practice becomes love in action. \nNew yogis\, yoga teachers and all other practitioners are welcome. Bring a notebook and pen and leave with a personalized plan for a home practice that you can evolve to suit your needs as time goes on\, along with some clear language and prop modifications to help you create comfort and safety in group classes. We’ll also spend some time discussing the barriers we bring to our practice when we’re working with injuries or making modifications in group settings. Expect about 80 minutes of asana practice interspersed with discussion during this workshop. \nKimberly Dark started practicing yoga as a new mother because along with that delightful baby came terrible back pain! Her “baby” is 28 years old this year and the back pain is long gone – most days at least. She’s been teaching for almost twenty years now\, including fifteen years at Kalani. Her ability to modify postures for diverse\, aging and injured bodies is inspired by her own evolving yoga practice and by her training with an Iyengar-style teacher who specialized in prop modifications for sports injuries and yoga beginners. Kimberly also teaches in Loyola Marymount University’s Yoga and Mindfulness Graduate Certificate Program and is a founding member of the Yoga and Body Image Coalition. \nLocation: Kalani. 12-6860 Kalapana Kapoho Road\, Pahoa\, HI 96778\nAdmission: $30 Guests\, $20 Kama’aina\, $10 Kalani Volunteers\nReservations: Call Tony at 808-965-0468 ext. 108 or tony@kalani.com. You may also contact our Guest Services team at 808-965-7828 to register. Walk-ins welcome.

SUMMARY:College Radio Day
DESCRIPTION:Come join us for College Radio Day! FRI Oct 6\, 2017 10am-2pm Campus Center Courtyard at UH Manoa.\nWe will have live musicians\, DJs\, and a Music Sale to help support your favorite College Radio station\, KTUH fm HNL. \n“The aim of College Radio Day is to raise a greater\, international awareness of the many college and high school radio stations that operate around the world by encouraging people who would not normally listen to college radio to do so on this day. It is hoped that those people who do tune in like what they hear and become regular listeners. The organizers of College Radio Day believe that college radio is one of the last remaining bastions of creative radio programming\, free from the constrictions of having to be commercially viable\, and a place where those involved in its programming believe passionately in its mission. College radio is the only free live medium brave enough to play unsigned\, local\, and independent artists on a regular basis. Indeed\, many famous and successful bands today\, owe their initial break to being played on college radio. Put simply\, college radio is an important part of the media landscape because of its unique and fearless programming.”\nhttps://www.collegeradio.org/
