The Sierota siblings — Sydney (vocals/keyboard)\, Jamie (vocals/guitar)\, Noah (vocals/bass)\, and Graham (drums) — are gearing up for an even bigger 2015 with new single “Bright\,” after 2014 solidified them as a truly breakout act with the success of “Cool Kids.” The certified platinum track dominated everywhere\, charting in the Top 5 at Hot AC\, Top 10 at Top 40\, and in the Top 10 of the iTunes singles chart\, plus Top 15 of Billboard’s “Hot 100”. The “Cool Kids” video has racked up over 30 million views on YouTube\, and the new “Bright” video is set to follow in its footsteps. \nThe Southern California-born quartet grew up in a musical household\, and shared a love for playing instruments and listening to bands as varied as Coldplay\, The Smiths\, U2\, Joy Division\, and Fleetwood Mac. Those influences have yielded the melody- minded\, New Wave-influenced sound of Talking Dreams\, which was produced by Mike Elizondo (Tegan & Sara\, Regina Spektor) and earned rave reviews. The band has been featured by the likes of Rolling Stone\, USA Today\, Billboard\, TeenVogue\, and ELLE\, who dubbed “Cool Kids” as “an ageless anthem.” In 2014\, Echosmith were named both an MTV “Artist to Watch” and a VH1 “You Oughta Know” Artist. They were a break-out band at SXSW\, where they performed at the MTV Woodie Awards\n(leading Entertainment Weekly to comment: “Of all the bands looking to make noise on the Woodies\, Echosmith seemed most ready to break out”). The band was featured on the fourth season of MTV’s hit series Awkward\, having their music showcased throughout and culminating with the band at the centerpiece of a storyline. \nIn the past two years\, Echosmith has toured with everyone from Owl City and Young The Giant to\nAmerican Authors\, in addition to their two Warped Tour runs. They are now out on their first\, full-scale headlining tour\, continuing to win over new converts to their sparkling songs and dynamic live shows. \nPrices: $25.00 Regular General Admission in Advance plus applicable fees\, increase day of the show plus applicable fees. \nTickets available NOW at: \nBampproject.com / Jointherepublik.com / Flavorus.com / Local Motion Stores / Navy/Hickam ITT Offices / Army LTS Offices / UH Campus Center / About The Goods / The Safehouse (the Lounge within The Republik) Tuesday thru Saturday 6:00pm until 1:00am with a $2.00 Service Fee per ticket / The Republik Box Office Monday thru Friday 9:00am until 6:00pm with a $2.00 Service Fee per ticket \nMahalo to our sponsors: ROCKSTAR Energy Drink\, Bud Light and Wahoo’s Hawaii.

SUMMARY:Aloha ‘Āina: Stories from the Frontlines of Culture\, Conservation and Community Activitism
DESCRIPTION:Since the 1970s and his work with other Hawaiian leaders like Charlie Maxwell and George Helm to save Kaho‘olawe from ongoing destruction\, Walter Ritte has championed environmental and cultural protection efforts across Hawai‘i. Few among us have had greater impact on our ‘āina and our community. His activitism always engages many communities and grounds itself in the Aloha ‘Āina taught to him in the early days of the Kaho‘olawe struggle by the kūpuna who led that effort. This will be a forum with Uncle Walter and the team from Hui o Kuapā who have led Aloha ‘Āina conservation activities in Hawai‘i over the last decade. From Kaho‘olawe\, to battles over water rights\, to struggles against land development like Lā‘au Point\, to the ongoing issues with GMOs\, Uncle Walter Ritte and those closest to him will tell the front line stories and talk about the behind the scene strategies\, including legal\, political and communication strategies\, that contributed to some of Hawai‘i's most important cultural and conservation victories. This will be a wholly unique opportunity to hear directly from and dialogue with some of these intergenerational cultural activists about their conservation work. All are welcome to attend\, as the panel hopes that from our lessons from past experiences\, current and future generations will deepen their appreciation for Aloha ‘Āina and understanding as to how to use this gift from our kūpuna to protect our Hawai‘i for future generations. I ka wā mamua\, ka wā mahope.

SUMMARY:BAMP Project presents Zion I\, Grouch and Eligh\, and Kreayshawn
DESCRIPTION:BAMP Project presents Zion I\, Grouch and Eligh\, and Kreayshawn performing live in Honolulu at The Republik\, Saturday\, August 1st\, 2015. Tickets are available now at the locations listed below. This is an all ages accompanied by an adult event. \nKreayshawn: Whatever you’ve heard about the Bay Area musician and director\, Kreayshawn (“kray-SHAWN”) is nothing if not scrappy. Born in September 1989 in San Francisco\, as Natassia Zolot\, to a teenaged single mother\, the diminutive artist relied on her wits to navigate the roughest sections of The City—the Fillmore\, Mission and Tenderloin. “I don’t flaunt growing up in the hood\,” says Kreayshawn. \nKreayshawn had moved from Oakland to LA for a change of pace\, and she quickly signed with Colombia Records. Now Kreayshawn is busier and traveling more than she ever has. Between tackling countless interviews that have landed her on the covers of SF Weekly\, Complex\, the UK’s fashion bible i-D Magazine\, and Thrasher Magazine\, traveling around the world performing at festivals such as Norway’s Hove Festival\, Belgium’s Rock Werchter Festival\, Frane’s Main Square Festival\, Holland’s Pitch Festival\, the UK’s Wireless Festival\, Japan’s Springroove Festival\, and the US’ Voodoo\, POPPED!\, Bamboozle\, and VICE’s Noisey tour\, and working on clothing collaborations with A Bathing Ape and Hot Topic\, Kreayshawn churned out 13 genre-bending tracks for her debut album\, Somethin ‘Bout Kreay. Drawing inspiration from a myriad of genres including everything from sissy bounce to juke to 80’s rap to pop and beyond\, Kreayshawn’s album is a reflection of her vast musical taste. \nZion I: This duo of genre-bender pride has made a name for itself on the Bay Area scene by successfully mixing spiritualism and hip-hop. Oakland's MC Zumbi and DJ/producer Amp Live blend hip-hop and trip-hop beats with lyrics focused on a message of unity\, hope\, and spiritual awareness. Although Zion Ioperates out of Berkeley\, the pair originally met in Atlanta\, making their music difficult to classify as strictly West Coast hip-hop. Their musical style makes them even harder to define. With a style that borrows from hip-hop\, trance\, drum'n'bass\, and reggae\, Zion I's style is equally mystical and mystifying. \nThe Grouch: The Grouch is one of the founding members of the internationally infamous crew\, The Living Legends. Humbly beginning on a 4-track recorder nearly 15 years ago\, The Grouch has steadily grown into one of the prominent figures within the independent hip hop scene. Known for captivating his listeners with his down to earth and truthfully poignant raps and production\, The Grouch has successfully released over ten solo projects\, independently. In addition to his solo career\, The Grouch has played an integral part in building the Living Legends brand\, sound\, and image. A consummate workaholic\, The Grouch also has numerous groups outside of his solo career and LL collective\, most notably: The Grouch & Eligh\, Zion I & The Grouch\, and The CMA with Living Legends crewmate\, Luckyiam. \nEligh: An outside-of-the-box MC and producer\, Eligh was an important contributor to the development of Cali's hip-hop underground in the mid- to late '90s as he helped construct the sound of his crew\, the Living Legends\, with his productions. His inspiration for making hip-hop music came in the mid-'80s from the cult classic Beat Street and the LL Cool J cut “I'm Bad.” In high school\, the Los Angeles-born rapper/producer co-founded a hip-hop duo with MC Scarubcalled the Boogalu Badboys\, but when they crossed paths with another eager rapper\, Murs\, the three became 3 Melancholy Gypsys (or 3MG). However\, Eligh was eventually evicted from his aunt and uncle's home\, forcing him to move from L.A. up north to the Bay Area. There\, he met aspiring underground rapper the Grouch\, which ultimately led to 3MG's incorporation into the Living Legends. Combining his dogged work ethic with the Legends' D.I.Y. approach\, Eligh issued almost a dozen LPs within the span of ten years\, not to mention providing beats for those outside theLegends camp (sometimes under the producer alias Gandalf)\, including Company Flow\, Pigeon John\, and WWE wrestler John Cena. The mid- to late '90s saw the release of self-pressed albums like As They Pass (1996) and Gas Dream (1999); however\, in the 2000s\, Eligh concocted darker and more cryptic albums\, such asPoltergeist (2003) and Enigma (2005). Other than offering more 3MG material\,Eligh was involved in a number of LL offshoots as well\, including the Righteous Brothers Project andG&E\, aka the Grouch & Eligh. \nBAMP Resident DJ Delve will spin after the show for those over 21 in The Safehouse. \nDetails on the Show:\nWhere: The Republik\, 1349 Kapiolani Blvd 3rd Floor\, Honolulu\, HI 96814\nWhen: Saturday\, August 1st\, 2015\nLounge Doors: 6:00pm (21 and over)\nHall: 7:00pm (All Ages accompanied by an adult)\nShow: 8:00pm (All Ages accompanied by an adult)\nPrices: $30.00 in Advance plus applicable fees\, increase day of the show plus applicable fees. \nTickets available at:\nBampproject.com / Jointherepublik.com / Flavorus.com / Local Motion Stores / Navy/Hickam ITT Offices /\nArmy LTS Offices / UH Campus Center / The Safehouse (the Lounge within The\nRepublik) Tuesday thru Saturday 6:00pm until 1:00am with a $2.00 Service Fee per ticket / The Republik\nBox Office Tuesday thru Friday 10:00am until 6:00pm with a $2.00 Service Fee per ticket \nIf you aren’t familiar with Kreayshawn\, visit http://www.kreayshawn.com/home\nZion I http://www.zionicrew.com/\nThe Grouch http://therealgrouch.com/\nEligh visit http://www.elighmusic.com/ \nHigh-resolution photos and interviews upon request. \nMahalo to our sponsors ROCKSTAR Energy Drink\, Bud Light\, and Wahoos
