SUMMARY:Altar Native Revisted
DESCRIPTION:Award winning Slack Key\, Folk Rocker\, Millicent Cummings presents a timely musical odyssey entitled\, ‘Altar Native'\, (Revisited). Several of the songs to be performed were presented by Hawai'i Public Radio in 2008\, the live recording of which was a Hoku Award Nominee. She will also be performing many new songs written over the past 14 years for each of the eight Hawaiian Islands about the inspiring beauty of Hawai'i\, as well as the tragic paradoxes that simultaneously exist.\nMusically\, this presentation is as diverse as the people who coexist here\, dancing from one genre to another…Through the ruckus terrain of Rock and Roll\, the peaceful shores of the tender ballad and even the playful satire of the Irish dirge…Each in their own unique\, slack key tunings for both guitar and ukulele.\nCummings has chosen to give a solo concert this time\, unaccompanied and genuine…A time when the Hawaiian people and supporters of indigenous rights are uniting for a more sustainable future. She is an Aloha Aina Warrior\, having played benefit concerts\, produced festivals\, rallied and volunteered countless hours on Kaho'olawe\, Kaua'i\, O'ahu\, Moloka'i and the Big Island in restoration and preservation projects. This dynamic\, eco-feminist songwriter sings with Aloha-filled\, positive messages to honor the Land and the Children of the Land at a furtive and important cross roads in Hawaiian history. \nThis One Night Only concert will be held in the theater at the Hawai'i Museum of Contemporary Art in downtown Hilo from 7 to 9 PM. Tickets are $10 for members and $12 for non-members at the door. For more information visit www.ehcc.org or www.millicentcummings.com We hope you join us!…Malama Pono and ALOHA! \n“Millicent Cummings is one of the most exciting new voices to come from the Islands in years.\nHer songs are profound and her vocals are fabulous” -Jerry Santos of Olomana\n“Altar Native is one of the great all time artistic\, spiritual and political expressions of Hawai'i Nei” -Evan Tector\n“A diverse and inspired contemporary individual\, unique to Hawaii and the world.” -Makana\n“Awesome\, Awesome” -Ledward Ka'apana

SUMMARY:BAMP Project and Goldenvoice present Jack White
DESCRIPTION:BAMP Project AND Goldenvoice PRESENT\nJack White\nBRINGS HIS PROLIFIC SOUND TO Neal Blaisdell Arena\nON APRIL 15TH\nTICKETS ON SALE NOW! \nJack White\, one of the most prolific and renowned artists of the past two decades\, announced today that he will be performing at Honolulu’s Blaisdell Arena on April 15th\, 2015. Ticket sales begin this Saturday\, January 31st at 10am at the Blaisdell Box Office & Ticketmaster.com. \nWhen the White Stripes started in 1997 no one\, least of all Jack\, ever expected that a red\, white and black two-piece band would take hold in the mainstream world. The band's self-titled debut and sophomore effort De Stijl amassed critical acclaim and built a passionate underground following\, but it was the release of 2001’s White Blood Cells that thrust the White Stripes onto magazine covers as they captivated larger audiences through worldwide touring. “Fell in Love With a Girl” served as the band’s breakthrough hit and its accompanying Michel Gondry Lego clip was chosen by Pitchfork Media as the #1 music video of the 2000s. \nThe release of Elephant in 2003 not only cemented the band’s reputation\, but also offered the hit “Seven Nation Army” which has since been appropriated as arguably the most popular chant in sports stadiums around the world. \nIn 2004\, White teamed up with Loretta Lynn to produce and perform on her Van Lear Rose album\, an effort that won GRAMMY Awards for Best Country Album and Best Country Collaboration With Vocals for the single “Portland\, Oregon.” To date White has won nine GRAMMYs in seven different categories. \nWhite formed a “new band of old friends\,” the Raconteurs\, in 2006. Their debut album Broken Boy Soldiers featured the #1 hit single “Steady\, As She Goes” and showed a markedly different side of White\, one where songwriting\, vocal and guitar duties were shared. In 2009\, White returned to his original instrument\, the drums\, and started the Dead Weather with members of the Kills\, Queens of the Stone Age and the Greenhornes. Releasing two albums in two years and unleashing a dark\, captivating live show upon curious audiences\, the Dead Weather further cemented Jack White’s musical versatility and range. \nAlso in 2009\, White opened the doors to his very own Nashville-based record label\, Third Man Records\, where he has since produced and released more than 250 records in just over five years. With a catalogue of releases from artists as varied as Jerry Lee Lewis\, the Smoke Fairies\, Wanda Jackson\, Black Milk and Stephen Colbert\, and unimagined vinyl configurations\, the label has rightfully earned its reputation as a leader in the vinyl record industry. \nOn April 24\, 2012\, White released his debut album Blunderbuss on Third Man Records/Columbia. Blunderbuss debuted at #1 on the U.S. albums chart–a career first for White–and was both the top selling vinyl album and the highest charting solo debut of 2012 in the U.S. Blunderbuss also hit #1 in the UK\, Canada and Switzerland\, and received five GRAMMY nominations\, including Album of the Year\, Best Rock Album\, Best Rock Song for “Freedom at 21\,” and\, the following year\, Best Rock Performance and Best Music Video for “I’m Shakin’.” \nWhite released Lazaretto (Third Man Records/Columbia)\, the follow-up to the gold-certified Blunderbuss\, on June 10th\, 2014. Once again debuting at #1 on the U.S. albums chart and at #1 in Canada and Denmark\, Lazaretto also broke the record for first-week vinyl album sales–selling over 40\,000 copies in the U.S.–making it not only the biggest selling vinyl album of 2014\, but of any year since 1991. \nWhite released Lazaretto (Third Man Records/Columbia)\, the follow-up to the gold-certified Blunderbuss\,\non June 10th\, 2014. SUMMARY:BAMP Project presents Mastodon
DESCRIPTION:BAMP Project presents Mastodon performing live in Honolulu at The Republik Saturday\, April 4th\, 2015. Tickets are on sale NOW. This event is open to all ages accompanied by an adult. \nArt is a cyclical beast. The same can easily be said of Grammy Award nominated hard rock juggernaut Mastodon. The group’s four members recognize the importance of life’s omnipresent cycles on their sixth full-length album\, Once More ‘Round the Sun. The band orbits around themes of loss and rebirth\, twirling a sonic spiral of its signature robust riffing\, hypnotically haunting soundscapes\, triage of dynamic voices\, and thundering seismic grooves. At the same time\, this particular collection proves personal for Brann Dailor\, Brent Hinds\, Bill Kelliher\, and Troy Sanders. The very title says something slightly different for each member. \nMastodon’s own collective cycle encompasses a staggering string of accolades. Whether it’s the public endorsement of peers as diverse as Metallica\, Pearl Jam\, Queens of the Stone Age\, CeeLo Green\, and Feist or unanimous praise from the likes of Time and Rolling Stone\, the band continue to make an impression at every turn. 2011’s The Hunter saw them achieve their highest chart debut yet\, reaching #10 on the Billboard Top 200\, while the single “Curl of the Burl” notched their second Grammy Award nomination in the category of “Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance”. \nA local opening act will be announced soon. \nShow Information:\nLounge Doors Open: 6:00pm (21 and over)\nHall: 7:00pm (All ages accompanied by adult)\nShow: 8:00pm (All ages accompanied by adult)\nPrices: $29.00 in advance plus applicable fees\, increase day of the show plus applicable fees. \nTickets on Sale At:\nBampproject.com / Jointherepublik.com / Flavorus.com / Local Motion Stores / Navy/Hickam ITT Offices / Coast Guard ITT Offices / Army LTS Offices / UH Campus Center / The Safehouse (the Lounge within The Republik)Tuesday thru Saturday 6:00pm until 1:00am / The New Republik Box Office Monday thru Friday 9:00am until 6:00pm
