SUMMARY:Kaua`i Chocolate & Coffee Festival
DESCRIPTION:The Inaugural Kaua`i Chocolate & Coffee Festival is a celebration of all things chocolate and coffee with lots of sampling\, presentations and workshops\, entertainment and exhibitor booths featuring a variety of chocolate and coffee products from around the state. The festival will begin on Friday\, October 23 from 5 pm until 9 pm and continues on Saturday\, October 24 from 10 am until 5 pm. \nThe Kaua`i Chocolate & Coffee Festival spans over two days beginning on Friday with a small group workshop\, sampling\, entertainment & a coffee presentation in the evening. Then the festival picks up again on Saturday morning and continues on to highlight all the attributes of these two favorite local crops. This street festival takes place in Historic Hanapepe Town and includes small group workshops\, presentations and demonstrations\, a Passport Tasting Program\, live entertainment\, a massage station\, a silent auction\, keiki activities\, sampling and much more. \nPresented by the Hanapepe Economic Alliance\, Hawai`i Tourism Authority\, County of Kaua`i and Special Events Hawaii\, the organizer of the Hawaii Chocolate Festival and organizer of the Statewide Hawaii Grown Cacao Month Initiative which is supported by the Hawaii Department of Agriculture. Our mission for the Kaua`i Chocolate & Coffee Festival is to offer an event that entertains both visitors and residents of Kaua`i; highlights Hawai`i agricultural industries of both cacao and coffee; and showcases the fine products and talents of our local farmers\, chefs\, roasters\, chocolatiers\, baristas and manufacturers while bringing prosperity to Historic Hanapepe Town. The festival will feature chocolate and coffee from Kaua`i and around the Hawaiian Islands.

DESCRIPTION:Save the date for the 5th Annual Hawai‘i Chocolate Festival\, the state’s premier showcase of Hawai`i-grown chocolate products. Hawai`i’s sweetest celebration takes place on Friday through Sunday\, October 16 – 18\, 2015 at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center in a special section of the Food and New Product Show. Event hours are Friday from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.\, Saturday from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. The Food and New Product Show $5 admission provides free entrance into the Hawai`i Chocolate Festival to browse\, learn and shop for all things chocolate or select the $20 tasting passport for admission and special chocolate sampling from some of the state’s top chocolatiers. \nWith more than two-dozen exhibitors\, the Hawai‘i Chocolate Festival is the ultimate experience for chocolate connoisseurs who can sip and savor from an array of chocolate delights. There are also educational and informational displays about locally grown cacao and how it is transformed into chocolate; a chocolate-inspired spa; Cacao plants in the Chocolate Garden and more. It all adds up to one sweet way to spend the weekend! \nHawai’i is the only state in the U.S. currently growing cacao\, and the mission of the Hawai`i Chocolate Festival is to stimulate global interest in Hawai’i’s chocolate industry. A hula and oli (chant) kick off the event. A stage with live music entertains festival-goers throughout the day. The annual Trash Fashion Show\, designed to raise environmental awareness\, shows off attire made entirely from recycled material. \nTickets to the Kona Brewers Festival Main Event on Saturday are available in advance only. Cost is $75 and includes a commemorative event mug\, eight four-ounce brew tasting coupons\, unlimited samplings of gourmet cuisine and an afternoon of entertainment. Tickets are available for purchase online in late January at www.KonaBrewersFestival.com ($5 fee). \nSince its humble beginning in 1996 to celebrate the creation of the Kona Brewing Company\, the festival’s mission is to promote the craft brewing revolution in Hawai’i\, encourage professional brewers and chefs to work together\, and have a positive economic\, educational and environmental effect on the Big Island community. \nThe Festival has grown to include a Brewer’s Pa’ina and Art Auction\, a Home Brewers Competition\, a benefit whale watch cruise and a 5/10k run/walk.
