SUMMARY:Altar Native Revisted
DESCRIPTION:Award winning Slack Key\, Folk Rocker\, Millicent Cummings presents a timely musical odyssey entitled\, ‘Altar Native'\, (Revisited). Several of the songs to be performed were presented by Hawai'i Public Radio in 2008\, the live recording of which was a Hoku Award Nominee. She will also be performing many new songs written over the past 14 years for each of the eight Hawaiian Islands about the inspiring beauty of Hawai'i\, as well as the tragic paradoxes that simultaneously exist.\nMusically\, this presentation is as diverse as the people who coexist here\, dancing from one genre to another…Through the ruckus terrain of Rock and Roll\, the peaceful shores of the tender ballad and even the playful satire of the Irish dirge…Each in their own unique\, slack key tunings for both guitar and ukulele.\nCummings has chosen to give a solo concert this time\, unaccompanied and genuine…A time when the Hawaiian people and supporters of indigenous rights are uniting for a more sustainable future. She is an Aloha Aina Warrior\, having played benefit concerts\, produced festivals\, rallied and volunteered countless hours on Kaho'olawe\, Kaua'i\, O'ahu\, Moloka'i and the Big Island in restoration and preservation projects. This dynamic\, eco-feminist songwriter sings with Aloha-filled\, positive messages to honor the Land and the Children of the Land at a furtive and important cross roads in Hawaiian history. \nThis One Night Only concert will be held in the theater at the Hawai'i Museum of Contemporary Art in downtown Hilo from 7 to 9 PM. Tickets are $10 for members and $12 for non-members at the door. For more information visit www.ehcc.org or www.millicentcummings.com We hope you join us!…Malama Pono and ALOHA! \n“Millicent Cummings is one of the most exciting new voices to come from the Islands in years.\nHer songs are profound and her vocals are fabulous” -Jerry Santos of Olomana\n“Altar Native is one of the great all time artistic\, spiritual and political expressions of Hawai'i Nei” -Evan Tector\n“A diverse and inspired contemporary individual\, unique to Hawaii and the world.” -Makana\n“Awesome\, Awesome” -Ledward Ka'apana

SUMMARY:6th Annual Slam Against Violence
DESCRIPTION:April is National Poetry Month and Sexual Assault Awareness Month – celebrate both by joining us for an evening of inspiration & entertainment as we seek to end violence against women through creative expression & financial support for the YWCA of Hawai'i Island Sexual Assault Support Services. \nA Poetry Slam is a fun and competitive poetry event where poets are awarded prizes based on audience support for their performance. For the Slam Against Violence\, we will be mixing it up a bit\, so please read below for the basic rules: \nBring a poem (or a story or song\, but no instruments please) that helps make the world safer for women. Perhaps it honors an important woman in your life\, exposes the tragedy of sexual assault\, or celebrates the wisdom & contributions of women in our local or global community. It can be your own work\, or that of another poet or artist. You’ll have 3 minutes to perform the poem on stage (memorization is great\, but not required). \nIn exchange for a donation of any amount\, audience members will have the opportunity to honor the performers by giving lei to the poets of their choice. The poets with the most lei at the end of the night will win prizes. So\, bring poetry to share and cash to support YWCA of Hawai'i Island Sexual Assault Support Services. And be prepared to have a great time with your Hawai’i Island ‘ohana in a creative\, supportive and inspiring atmosphere!

SUMMARY:Executive Firewalk Instructor Training (EFIT): Hawaii
DESCRIPTION:The concept of a Master Class is a time-honored way for true masters of an art to pass along their wisdom\, knowledge and skills. Visual artists learn more in a day with a master than they do in months of school. Singers grow enormously from a few hours spent with a renowned performer. Martial artists study with the master\, spiritual seekers search for their guru. \nThe EFIT is the most comprehensive firewalk instructor certification course available today. This is an advanced program that focuses on the business of firewalk seminar facilitation. This empowerment intensive will provide you with all the tools needed to create a successful seminar career. The program covers all aspects of the business of firewalking. One very important topic of this course deals with how to effectively market and generate sales for your business. \nIn the Executive Firewalking Instructor Training (EFIT) you will learn from masters of each of the separate talents needed to plan\, sell and facilitate successful firewalking events. If you want to learn how to share the experience of walking on fire and help others grow from that experience\, the EFIT is for you. If you want to grow personally and professionally\, the EFIT is for you. You will leave the EFIT\, a Master Class in Firewalking\, with new levels of understanding\, a fresh appreciation of your potential and epiphanies about your future. \nIn this course you will learn: \nAdvanced Firewalking Situations\nImprove your Public Speaking Skills\nRoom design for your Events\nMarketing your Events\nAudience Engagement Skills\nGrowing Your Business\nSales Skills\nAdvanced Facilitation Skills\nLeadership Skills\nTeam Building Skills \nFEATURED SPEAKERS \nCharles Horton \nCharles Horton has been setting and achieving goals since he was a young boy. At age 16 Charles set his sights on becoming financially independent. His first venture started at a local flea market. After finding an item that caught his eye\, he asked the person at the booth if they would take a personal check. The man responded\, “No son. No one here accepts personal checks. This is a cash only business.” \nSomewhat dismayed\, Charles continued to walk through the flea market and asked a few more vendors the same question\, “Will you take a personal check?” He received the same answer from each vendor\, “no”. It was at this moment that Charles came up with an innovative idea. “What if I set up a booth and cashed personal checks for flea market shoppers?” He approached the manager of the market and told him his idea. “If you will build me a booth and charge me no vendor fee\, I will cash personal checks for your shoppers as a convenience for people who run out of cash while they are browsing your flea market.” One thing quickly led to another and it wasn't long before this 16-year-old boy was cashing over $100\,000 in personal checks on a typical weekend. \nThat event was to serve as a stepping-stone to a very lucrative career in the business of personal finance for Charles. It was during this time\, that Charles set a goal to become a millionaire by his 30th birthday. And yes\, he achieved that goal he set for himself many years before. \nNow at age 40 Charles is a self-made multi-millionaire and oversees his more than 50 retail financial outlets across the country. His company has been bestowed (twice) by INC. 500 as one of the fastest growing privately held companies in America. He now runs his finance empire from his own 12000 sq. ft. villa surrounded by pools\, creeks\, waterfalls and a private coy stocked lake. He has come a long way since he took that first stroll through the flea market. \nIn addition to his primary endeavor\, Charles has also become an excellent public speaker and teacher of goal setting and finance. He conducts seminars around the country and shares his philosophy with seminar attendees. “It's what makes me the happiest. I love helping others\,” says Horton. He regularly conducts firewalk seminars to people from all over the globe. “It's about breaking through limitations and getting to the next level in life. That has been the cornerstone of my personal philosophy for many years. Identify what's holding you back and move through it. It almost always boils down to fear on some level.” \nKrish Dhanam \nKrish Dhanam joined the Zig Ziglar Corporation in the sales department in October of 1991. Through speaking and teaching the timeless principles of its legendary founder Zig Ziglar\, Krish soon embarked on a career that has seen him facilitate workshops and conduct seminars all over the world. His current assignments include functioning as Vice President of Consulting and Business Development for Ziglar True Performance and Co-founder of Krish Dhanam Training International. \nAs a writer he has authored articles on a range of topics spanning from personal relationships to corporate change. Recognized by his peers as a dynamic personality\, Krish says that sharing a stage with a President pales in comparison to watching a movie with his son. \nKrish will teach two days of hands on speaking\, training and coaching. No matter what your current level of public speaking proficiency is\, you will leave a better speaker. \nTom Niesen \nTom Niesen is founder and CEO of Acuity Training Systems\, Inc. Acuity has schools for salespeople\, sales managers\, and entrepreneurs in Dallas\, Austin\, and Houston. Tom can frequently be found on the road conducting in-house workshops for major corporations. He is regularly asked to assist in training and development of sales trainers nationwide. Tom teaches non-traditional client development\, negotiating\, and business development to thousands of professionals in over 260 industries. In fact\, in a recent Magazine article “Sales Superstars” 4 of the 8 listed were clients of Acuity Training systems. Tom has conducted seminars for such companies as Quaker Oats\, Minolta\, Lucent\, Fuji Film and McDonalds. Tom is presently working on his Ph.D. at Dallas Baptist University. Tom has been featured in radio and print. Tom Niesen was also 1999 Dallas Man of the Year. \nBuilding a business is a separate task from facilitating an event. In Tom's section you will consider your future and how firewalking events fit into your business plan. \nEXAMPLES OF TOPICS COVERED\nSales and marketing are necessary elements of having successful events. How do you reach the people interested in your event? How do you generate interest in those who have never heard of firewalking? \nWhen the details of an event are properly planned\, the attendees will think you are hardly working. When there are problems\, they will think you didn't work hard enough. All the details for facilitating a flawless experience are examined\, from transportation; room set up and drinks\, to lighting\, sound and minimizing distractions. \nPublic speaking has a reputation as something that frightens many people. You will grow as a speaker from the exercises and critiques in this section. More importantly you will learn that speaking is only part of facilitating. Keeping the group focused and energized is another skill you will consider. Done well this rises to the level of an art form; performance art. \nAnd of course\, walking on a bed of coals is a more complex event to co-ordinate than most seminars. All the specific issues of having the fire\, safety\, setting and group dynamics come together just when you want them to\, require a team of trusted individuals. In this section you will consider these factors. \nCOURSE DETAILS\nThe course is 5 intense days\, followed by a 4 day FIT\, where the student will teach various portions of the course. Successful completion of this course moves you one step closer to being a Master Instructor with F.I.R.E. \nDate: \n04/12/2015 – 04/19/2015 \nLocation: \nBig Island\, Hawaii \nPricing\nStandard Price: $9\,995.00\nIf Purchased at a FIT:$7\,995.00 \nPAYMENT TERMS: $2000 minimum due on signing. $4000 due by 02/12/2015. Full balance due by: 03/12/2015. \nIf paid in full at FIT: $6\,995.00 \n100% Money Back Guarantee on Intensives and Firewalk Instructor Certification \nWe are so confident that our programs will benefit you\, we are willing to take all of the risk out of your decision to attend. If you are not completely satisfied by the lunch break on the third day of the event\, we will issue a full and complete refund\, no questions asked. If you are dissatisfied\, simply let one of our representatives know no later than the end of the lunch break on the third day. All course materials must be returned. \nBENEFITS\nExecutive Firewalk Instructors are able to list intensives on the firewalking.com website.\nExecutive Firewalk Instructors may use Institute developed seminar materials to conduct intensives in their markets. These materials include workbooks\, production books\, training materials and advertising materials.\nExecutive Instructors also get priority over Certified Instructors in receiving sales leads from F.I.R.E.\nCurrently all Executive Instructors may attend all F.I.R.E. events free of charge.\nCurrently there is no further tuition required to become a Master Instructor.
