The rhythm was popularized in mainstream dance music in the United States by a 1923 tune called “The Charleston” by composer/pianist James P. Johnson which originated in the Broadway show Runnin' Wild and became one of the most popular hits of the decade. Runnin' Wild ran from 29 October 1923 through 28 June 1924. The peak year for the Charleston as a dance by the public was mid-1926 to 1927.

Upon Ekona’s departure and in just a few short years Frydaze has grew with Lee\, Josh\, Kimo\, Kahea and the rest of Imagine family at the reigns. It has grew into a full fledged monthly which now brings talent from all over. Deejays’\, Oahu resident Shift\, (3x MaiTai Champ) – Technique\, LW&PC resident – N8\, Big Island & Livewire Native – Jaegurl\, Powerhouse’s – Kaii/PSI showed support in the first few years. Residents Drift Juice\, Omik\, and Simply Sound launch the local audio onslaught to the masses. The continuing support for local talent and yearning for music helped fuel the idea of Imagine Family.
