It will include Karol Szymanowski Four Mazurkas\, op. 50\, Ludwig van Beethoven Sonata no.31 in A flat major\, op. 110\, Claude Debussy Three Etudes\, Johannes Brahms Three Pieces\, and Sergei Prokofieff Sonata #7 in B flat major\, op. 83. \nDoors open at 5pm for the performance and there will be snacks and beverages available for sale at the Kahilu Theatre bar.  \nNOTE: Entry is free for ages 18 and under at the door \nThe Steinway Series is a season of performances Kahilu Theatre’s Model D Steinway Concert Grand Piano. The piano was acquired thanks to Kahilu supporters’ generous donations to our Steinway Campaign. \nA little bit about Mark:\nHe received his Master of Music from Northwestern University\, Bachelor of Music from the Philadelphia Musical Academy\, and has studied with such notable teachers as Benjamin Whitten\, Zoltan Kocsis\, and Mary Sauer. In addition to giving solo recitals in cities throughout the U.S.\, Mr. Valenti has performed in France\, Belgium\, Hungary\, and Luxembourg as well as for former First Lady Barbara Bush in Washington\, D.C.

DESCRIPTION:Tucked away on the northern flank of Mauna Loa overlooking Maunakea is a white domed structure\, where NASA is studying what it takes to live on Mars. This is the Hawai‘i Space Exploration Analog and Simulation (HI-SEAS) program\, which is aimed at researching issues related to how crews will function on long-duration missions to Mars. HI-SEAS creates missions and recruits crewmembers who live in the Mars-like habitat for periods ranging from four to twelve months\, in order to better understand the planet’s living conditions.
