SUMMARY:Read and Remember-75th Anniversary Pearl Harbor Exhibits
DESCRIPTION:The Hawaii State Library is honoring the anniversary of the December 7\, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor with a number of special exhibits. Learn the story of the attack from those who witnessed\, remembered\, and wrote\, with an exhibit featuring snippets from the many memoirs and personal histories written about the precarious time. Experience the attack through a display of the original news reports from the day when citizens realized “This was no drill!” \nBoth exhibits are accompanied by World War II era artifacts and photographs thanks to a partnership with Home of the Brave Museum and other lenders. \nThe exhibits and artifacts will be on view in the library’s First Floor Reading Room though the end of December\, during normal library hours.

SUMMARY:Meditative Coloring
DESCRIPTION:Can you remember the sense of peace and enjoyment you felt while coloring as a child? Can coloring help you relax? \nFrom choosing colors to the gentle\, repetitive motion of your hands as you bring color to paper\, coloring can be seen as a form of “active meditation”. Oftentimes\, when you think of meditation\, you think of sitting still for a long period of time. With active meditation\, it is just the opposite: repetitive motions such as coloring cna help strengthen your focus and easily shift your attention back to a relaxed state. Stressful thoughts and future worries can be simply pushed aside as you take time to enjoy the present. Join us every Saturday for this mellow\, relaxing event. \nProgram schedule is subject to change. Program is suitable for ages 16 and older. All materials will be supplied. Feel free to bring your favorite pencils\, pens\, or pastels. To arrange a sign language interpreter or other special accommodation\, please call the hosting library as soon as possible: 323-7585.

Miguel’s critically acclaimed third studio album\, ‘Wildheart\,’ was released on June 29th via By Storm Entertainment/RCA Records and claimed the #1 spot on Billboard’s R&B Albums chart for the second time and debuted at#2 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart. \nThe album was recently nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Urban Contemporary Album category\, and its lead single ‘Coffee\,’ was nominated in the Best R&B Song category.
