DESCRIPTION:First Friday at the Hawaii State Art Museum – galleries will be open late\, with live bluegrass music by the North Shore Ramblers. Join us for a casual\, family-friendly evening! Admission is always free. \n6:00 – 9:00 PM\, second floor of the No 1. Capitol District building (250 South Hotel St.\, corner of Richards and S. Hotel). Free and open to the public. HiSAM galleries will be open (admission is always free). Parking available across the street in the Ali'i Place building (enter at 1099 Alakea St.\, cash only) or metered street parking in the area. Several TheBus lines stop in front of or close to the building.

DESCRIPTION:BAMP PROJECT\nPRESENTS\nRON WHITE\nAT THE BLAISDELL CONCERT HALL\nFRIDAY\, NOVEMBER 4TH  \nBAMP Project presents Comedian Ron White performing live in Honolulu at the Neal S. Blaisdell Concert Hall\, Friday\, November 4th\, 2016 and in Kahului at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center\, Saturday\, November 5th\, 2016. Tickets on sale Wednesday\, July 20th\, 2016 at 10:00am for both shows at all the locations listed below. This is an all ages event intended for mature audiences. \nComedian Ron “Tater Salad” White first rose to fame as the cigar smoking\, scotch drinking funnyman from the Blue Collar Comedy Tour phenomenon\, but now as a chart topping Grammy nominated comedian and a feature film actor\, Ron white has established himself as a star in his own right. \nRon White began preforming comedy in 1986 and was quickly opening for legendary comedians Sam Kinison and Jeff Foxworthy. In 2000 White was asked to join the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. The show toured for over three years to sold out audiences in over 270 cities and grossed more than $35 million \nIn November of 2003\, White released his breakthrough comedy CD Drunk In Public followed by his first one hour TV comedy special They Call Me Tater Salad. The special had the highest viewership for a Sunday program in Comedy Central history. \nBoth his Oahu and Maui shows sold out in 2014 and tickets will go fast this time around as well.

Blaisdell Arena \nHonolulu\, June 20\, 2016 – This fall\, Sting comes to Oahu to perform his most celebrated hits. The Neal S. Blaisdell Arena will host the concert on Friday\, November 4\, with tickets going on sale Friday\, June 24 at 10am. \nComposer\, singer\, actor\, author\, and activist – Sting was born in Newcastle\, England before moving to London in 1977 to form The Police with Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers. The band released five studio albums\, earned six Grammy Awards and two Brits\, and was inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003. \nSince 1989\, Sting has released fourteen solo albums and received an additional 10 Grammy Awards\, two Brits\, a Golden Globe\, an Emmy\, three Oscar nominations\, Billboard Magazine’s Century Award\, and MusiCares 2004 Person of the Year. Also a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame\, he received the Kennedy Center Honors in December of 2014. Throughout his enduring career\, he has sold close to 100 million albums from his combined work with The Police and as a solo artist. \nThe Last Ship\, his latest release\, is inspired by his memories of the shipbuilding community of Wallsend in the North East of England where he was born and raised. A play of the same name\, with music and lyrics by Sting\, debuted on Broadway in October 2014 and was heralded by the Associated Press as “thrilling with powerful performances\, outstanding songs\, and real heart.” Sting received a Tony Award nomination for Best Original Score. \nHe has appeared in more than 15 films and authored two books\, including The New York Times best-selling memoir\, Broken Music. His support for human rights organizations mirrors his art in its universal outreach. Along with wife Trudie Styler\, Sting founded the Rainforest Fund in 1989 to protect both the world’s rainforests and the indigenous people living there.
