SUMMARY:Body Speaking: Writing Practice with Ruth Thompson
DESCRIPTION:Our bodies are the keepers of our stories. In this monthly series\, writers and yogis of all levels will gather to explore movement\, breath\, meditation\, and inner listening as a way to generate writing from the body. Each 90 minute class will include an eclectic blend of asana\, energy work\, dance and pranayama. Guided loving-kindness meditations will lead into deep listening to the stories our bodies hold\, and flow naturally into writing.  \nThis workshop meets one Sunday a month for 4 months.\nFeb. 28th/ March 27th/ April 24th/ May 22nd \nCost: $25 ($20 for “40 Days” Students)  \nRuth Thompson is the author of three books of poetry. She has a PhD in English and now teaches creative writing. She received her yoga teacher certification through the Shivananda organization in 2007 and since then has studied intensively with Angela Farmer. DESCRIPTION:This brother and sister duo have been performing regularly on Oahu since 2010. On Sunday night\, you can see them in Maui\, for free! \nPaul Dunlap plays guitar and sings lead\, and Jasmine Kaleihiwa Dunlap plays ukulele and sings lead. The duo plays all types of music such as Hawaiian\, contemporary\, island reggae\, R&B\, classic rock\, and top 40. They grew up singing Hawaiian music\, and dancing hula with Hula Halau O Kamuela. Kaleihiwa is the current Miss Aloha Hula 2015. Paul was a part a few island bands such as the Ka'ala Boys\, and Simple Session. The two enjoy playing music and sharing their talents with others.
