DESCRIPTION:Theme: Ornaments must express some aspect of Hawai'i Island  (plants\, places\, food\, activities\, etc.). \nOrnaments can be no larger than 4″X4″X4″ and must be able to hang from a hook. \nTo enter: Bring your completed ornament to the Kailua-Kona Public Library and fill out an entry form at the Circulation Desk. There are three categories: Adult (18+)\, Teen (age 13-17)\, and Keiki (age 5-12). The deadline is December 5. \nTo vote: The public can vote for their favorite ornament at the library from December 1-12.  \nPrizes: Prizes for each category are a $10 gift card for Longs (adults)\, Target (teens)\, and Jamba Juice (keiki). Educator and artisan Mahi La Pierre will share his experience and knowledge of the ʻŪkēkē through a one-hour presentation and demonstration.  Light refreshments will be provided.\n‘Ukeke – An indigenous Hawaiian string bow that is played with the mouth as a resonator and strummed with the hand. Used in conjunction with love songs and chants its purest purpose was to convey aloha through its quiet gentle sound.\nThis program is generously sponsored by Friends of the Library Kahuku. \n*If a sign language interpreter or other special accomdation is need\, please contact the library at least 14 days prior to the event. DESCRIPTION:In recent years\, STRFKR has transformed from solely representing the work of principal songwriter Josh Hodges into a trio rounded out by bassist Shawn Glassford and drummer Keil Corcoran. \nAfter the release of their 3rd proper album\, Miracle Mile\, in 2013\, the band rose to new heights\, with highlights including: debuting on the Billboard Top 200 for the first time\, making their network television debut and playing Coachella Music Festival in 2014.
