DESCRIPTION:In recognition of Hawaii Fashion Month\, the Hawaii State Library presents a new exhibit\, “Fit to Print: Fifty Years of Fashion Advice from Hawaii's Magazines.”  Over the years\, magazines in Hawaii have helped illustrate the “now” fashions for the islands\, from showcasing the next season’s silhouette to introducing the latest back-to-school looks.  This exhibit takes a look back at trending fashions from 1950-2000\, as seen in the pages of Hawaii’s popular magazines.  The exhibit opens Wednesday\, November 4\, 2015\, and runs through November 30\, 2015.  The exhibit\, located in the First Floor Reading Room\, is free and open during the library's regular hours.

DESCRIPTION:November 22 & 29 12:30-3:00pm  $35 per class\, or $60 for both \nPartner yoga is not about striving hard to  achieve a great workout; in fact\, the intent of the practice is to let go of preconceptions of what is expected and to embrace a more holistic worldview when we realize that our being is not separate from the rest of life.  Find a balance between lending a helping hand to facilitate a deeper release for both parties and developing trust and intuition in taking care of one another\, as we merge our ways through 2 hours of partnering positions and finish up with an extended savasana. \nDay one will concentrate on a sequence of postures designed to loosen as well as strengthen participants\, preparing them for participation in a more curious and creative exploration on day two\, finishing up with  a series of  more challenging partner balances. \nNo partner is necessary. Wear comfortable clothing and enjoy relaxing into a mutually supported experience that will send you home smiling.

With his own weekly TV series on Comedy Central\, his first national theatre standup comedy tour sold out\, and The New York Times lauding him as one of the most “supremely gifted and respected” comics around\, Hannibal is emerging as a comedy superstar.  \nThis summer\, Hannibal wrote\, Executive Produced\, and starred in his own weekly comedy TV series\, “Why? With Hannibal Buress\,” which premiered on Comedy Central on July 8th\, 2015 at 10:30PM ET/PT. Shot in front of a studio audience\, the show asks life’s biggish questions\, celebrating Buress’ hilariously  brilliant off-beat voice and point-of-view. If it’s in the zeitgeist\, Buress will address it. Hannibal answers the burning questions on his mind through stand-up\, filmed segments\, man-on-the-street interviews and special\, in-studio guests\, providing his unique perspective on each week’s topics. He has written for NBC’s Saturday Night Live as well as 30 Rock\, and he is a regular on the late night TV circuit\, with appearances on The\nTonight Show with Jimmy Fallon\, The Late Show with David Letterman\, Jimmy Kimmel Live\, Conan\, and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.  \nHannibal’s highly-rated second hour standup special “Hannibal Buress Live from Chicago” premiered on Comedy Central on March 29th\, 2014\, with GQ declaring “He makes us ugly laugh.
