DESCRIPTION:In recognition of Hawaii Fashion Month\, the Hawaii State Library presents a new exhibit\, “Fit to Print: Fifty Years of Fashion Advice from Hawaii's Magazines.”  Over the years\, magazines in Hawaii have helped illustrate the “now” fashions for the islands\, from showcasing the next season’s silhouette to introducing the latest back-to-school looks.  This exhibit takes a look back at trending fashions from 1950-2000\, as seen in the pages of Hawaii’s popular magazines.  The exhibit opens Wednesday\, November 4\, 2015\, and runs through November 30\, 2015.  The exhibit\, located in the First Floor Reading Room\, is free and open during the library's regular hours.

After her retirement 2006\, she started writing her Louise Golden mystery series.   Stairway to Heaven is her 4th book in the series.  Laurie will talk about writing local mystery novels.

He last performed in Hawaii in 2011 as a featured artist of the annual HSPLS Children’s Summer Reading Program at 14 selected libraries statewide and received outstanding reviews.  Niall offers a remarkable range of tales and tells them with great charm\, judgment and superb timing. \n“His highly infectious enthusiasm for life\, storytelling and children was evident\,” said Denise Stromberg\, Kailua-Kona Public Library Children’s Librarian. “He was completely delightful for all ages.  We all laughed out loud from the oldest patron to the youngest listener.” \nThis year’s HSPLS Fall Programs for Children and Teens\, which run from Oct. 11 to Nov. 30\, are made possible by a grant from the Friends of the Library of Hawaii\, Hawaii State Federal Credit Union\, HEI Charitable Foundation\, Meadow Gold Dairies\, HMS Host\, Hansen Distribution Group\, Robert's Hawaii\, Toshiba Business Solutions\, and Aloha United Way.
