SUMMARY:Keiki Spring Events at Kapolei Public Library
DESCRIPTION:Kapolei Public Library will offer free events during its 10th annual Children’s Spring Reading Program. \n•	March 16 – 28.  “Tenth annual Keiki Spring Reading Program.”  Children 6th grade and younger are invited to sign up for the two-week program which encourages reading at least 20 minutes per day during most schools’ spring intercessions.  Participants will receive weekly prizes and may be eligible to win bonus awards…just by reading!  Younger children whose parents read aloud to them are also invited to participate in the program. \n•	March 16.  Monday.  10:00 a.m.  Ohana Music Together.  Join us for a morning of wiggling\, singing\, and laughing with a free\, no-obligation demonstration class by Ohana Music Together.  This program for very young children will be held in lieu of our regularly scheduled storytime. \n•	March 19.  Thursday.  10:00 a.m.  Storytime with special guests.  Popular local authors Karyn Hopper and Tammy Yee will present our storytime.  Karyn Hopper is the author of Malia in Hawai’I and There’s a Monster in My Opu.  Tammy Yee is the author/illustrator of children’s books which include The Castle that Kai Built\, Iki\, the Littlest Opihi\, Baby Honu books\, and many others.  A simple craft will follow this storytime. \n•	March 28.  Saturday.  10:30.  Zac’s Rabbits.  Learn about rabbits from breeder Zachary Johnson.  A meet and greet session with a few furry long-eared guests will follow the presentation.

SUMMARY:Women of Achievement from Judy Chicago's "The Dinner Party"
DESCRIPTION:In celebration of Women's History Month\, retired college professor Carol Hogard will present a lecture on artist Judy Chicago's The Dinner Party. This monumental work of art honoring women of outstanding achievement consists of a triangular table of three wings featuring 13 outstanding women. Emanating from the table are the names of 999 women of achievement written in gold on the tile floor. The Dinner Party is now housed in the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art in the Brooklyn Museum. The presentation will include a short clip from Judy Chicago's website http://www.throughtheflower.org as well as more detailed information on the floor tiles emanating from the plates of Sojourner Truth and Ethel Smyth.  The lecture will also include a description of the embroidery runners and plates honoring Sappho and Theodora.  A question and answer session will follow the presentation. Program is suitable for ages 18 and older.  \nCarol Hogard is a retired from the Minneapolis Community and Technical College. She was part of the team that created the first women's studies curriculum in a community college in the upper Midwest.  \nFor info call: 875-6833
